Play Monkey Island on your Nintendo DS
Leave to the mod community to make something you never thought of in the first place, but now you wouldn't want to
live without. The newest addition to the unofficial Nintendo DS library is a SCUMM library. For those in
the dark, SCUMM was the engine that ran all of LucasArts' adventure games, back when they made games without Star Wars
in the title. That includes Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, and most of the Monkey Island
games - all games that, whether or not you love high-quality adventure games, are extremely funny. And the best
part is that this emulator utilizes the DS's touch screen as a pseudo-mouse for clicking on the option.
I love this, and I kind of wish we would see more adventure games on the Nintendo DS. Are you listening,
LucasArts? Please give us rehashed games on a new system so that I might buy them and you can reap the benefits
of almost pure profit.
[Thanks, Shizzle]

I'm sure that the DS touch screen is nicer to play with then that damn thumb stick on my PSP. Maybe I'll have to go out and get a DS and check it out.

Jones Kingsu: Grim Fandango ran off their 3D engine, GrimE, based on the Lua language rather than SCUMM. There is a ScummVM module being periodically worked on, called Residual, which should be able to run the GrimE games (Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island) if and when it's ever finished. It is far pre-alpha at the moment.

Yeeeha, this rocks. And the Dig rocks too :p
Hope it will be easy to add other adventures.
For now it only supports Monkey Island ...

#11 - BASS should work, it works with the PC and PSP iterations of ScummVM I know. The files for it on the Sourceforge site even.
courtney @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
this is cool. I wish they would just make these games and not have to jump through hoops to use them.
