Within a year, gamblers may be able to walk into a Nevada casino and place bets on a special
hand-held device designed specifically for gambling thanks to a law passed last month by Nevada Governor Kenny
Guinn.
Much like the pornography industry tended to drive innovation in website design and marketing, gambling and its applications may drive innovation in the handheld gaming world. Though the device that casinos plan to hand to their visitors is still being prototyped, scuttlebutt has it that the devices could include biometric identification systems, automatic shut-downs once a loss limit has been triggered, and airtight security.
That automatic shut-down feature intrigues us. Imagine your PSP saying to you, "Sorry, but you've already had your ass handed to you by your opponents enough times today. Please try again tomorrow!"
We link to the Engadget post of over a month ago (those guys know the news before it's released) but what actually prompted this post was this detailed write-up by the AP.
