Sony has turned its sights on popular (and reliable) online
gaming retailer, Lik-Sang, in its ongoing
struggle to stamp out PSP imports to the UK. As it turns out, Lik-Sang was happily providing Japanese PSPs to eager
Europeans. That's a big no-no in Sony's book, prompting the company to take legal action against the online
retailer in the High Court of Hong Kong. If the court decides in favor of Sony then we'll be seeing another blow to the
European import market, as Sony seeks to ban not only import PSPs, but all games & accessories as well.

Typical of a large company to insult their early adaptors with their need to control everything... (same as apple and microsoft)

Whatever arcane reason Sony might have to crack down on perfectly legal business transactions that generate profit for their company (no one is claiming the PSPs are not genuine) is beyond me. They are making the money for selling the Japanese PSP, regardless of whether the new owner is in Japan, China, the United Kingdom or on the Moon. Sure, the European PSP numbers might look slightly smaller because of this, but the Japanese numbers will look bigger by the same amount.

I cant really blame Sony for this. But then, you dont see Nintendo doing the same thing. Maybe it is a sign of panic?

Sony is quickly losing the PR battle for the next console race. Bullshit actions like this don't fly in the blogging age. I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like this causes a backlash against the PS3.

Might be worth pointing out that it's going to be cheaper to import a PSP than buy one in the high street when it finally is released in Europe.
Maybe Sony are worried people will work this out and it could affect sales after the official release.
