Jeb Bush in Madden '06?!
Gov. Bush recently visited the Tiburon Studies to applaud the staff for their work on the latest installment in the perennial Madden series. In return, Bush was treated to a demonstration of the game that featured his likeness and his brother's (Pres. Bush) pitted against each other. In the staged sequence, Gov. Bush enters the game as a wide out for the Miami Dolphins, catches a deep ball, and then proceeds to flatten the President (playing DB for Dallas Cowboys) en route to the end zone. Gov. Bush will not be featured in the retail version of Madden '06.

There, I fixed that for you.
Eskimo Bob @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
lol You just put a lot of games on your "will not buy" list. Just think of it this way. At least they're keeping politicians busy so they're not able to spend all their time attacking the industry. =P
White Rose Duelist @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
All the games I am deriving myself of are annual $50 roster updates and unispired licensed games made by programmers who are being worked beyond reason for no more compensation than they would get if they put in exactly 40 hours a week every week. I don't feel any worse off.
bub @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Isn't assault of a president a federal offense? Throw Jeb in the slammer! They'll be plenty of other football players there to keep him company anyway.
bart @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Dude, homer...settle down man. They were just having fun, plus it's good for games to get good publicity from politicians.
You can't let things this small get to you so quickly, there are plenty of other big things to worry about :)

Hey Jeb good call on that Terri Schiavo thing, so hows that Michael Schiavo investigation coming?
Right wing religious nut jobs must run in the bush family.
TTN @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Hey chill, what is wrong with you? What in this article has any right-wing conservative republican undertone to it? The man is just complimenting the studio for doing a good job on a game. When there is something in the news about a politician saying good things about any video games, it can only help the industry. But you of course take the high road and take a cheap shot at him. Let me leave you with a couple of tidbits on video game history. Joe Lieberman was the person who headed the campaign on the ESRB ratings on which we see on the games now. And now Hilary Rodam Clinton is the frontrunner for stricter regulations on the whole video game industry. Both are huge LEFTIES.
chill @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Thank you TTN for the info I already knew...And if I wanna blast a piece of shit like Jeb I will, whats it to you?
Loki @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
12.Joe Lieberman was the person who headed the campaign on the ESRB ratings on which we see on the games now.
And hows that a bad thing?
Jebarooney @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
TTN, I wouldn't call Lieberman or Clinton 'huge LEFTIES.' They're Democrats, sure, but they're just about as far right as Democrats get. Political party and political ideology are not the same thing. Have you been getting your news from Fox or something?
TTN @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Certain ESRB ratings on games can not be sold to a specific age group.
Your liberal nemesis @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
"What in this article has any right-wing conservative republican undertone to it?"
Ummm... Answer is: Jeb and George Bush ARE right-wing conservatives, so by default, an article about them deals WITH right wing conservatives.
So this is what W is doing with his vacation! QBing for the Cowboys!
Not as good as falling off a Segway...

The problem I have is that someone in charge of that division wanted their employees to spend time sucking up to the bush brothers instead of doing their jobs. I love it when bush supporters throw democrat names into the debate to prove their point that bush can do no wrong. I detest most politicians, both "left" and "right" wingers, b/c they do not serve our needs anymore; they serve big-biz and foreign countries that give them money. Censoring the videogames we play is yet another small step in taking away our personal rights. If the majority of parents were more involved in their children's lives, and the politician's really did the job we pay them for, we wouldn't need esrb ratings.
vidGuy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
"we wouldn't need esrb ratings."
How 'bout movie ratings? You think we shouldn't have those? Would you be comfortable having your 13 year old kid go see a movie downtown, when you didn't know if it was rated G or X? The ratings system is a tool that parents need to utilize, just like they should take advantage of movie ratings.
I think the ratings should be enforced, to provide an extra cushion just like the movie industry does. I don't think a 10 year old should be able to buy a M rated game. T sure, M no. That's like the difference between PG-13 and R.
But lets say they enforce the ratings, and law requires that an ID has to be checked for renting or purchasing M rated games. What's going to happen? Parents will rent/purchase the game for the kid. They still won't care and few will take an active role in their kids entertainment.
I agree that it's not the industry's, ESRB's, or the government's responsibility to watch what kids are playing. But a little enforcement is now inevitable.
Music has a parental advisory thanks to the campaign spearheaded by Tipper Gore. Those explicit warnings only boosted sales, though.
Personally, I think this could be a good thing. If a good rating system is enforced, game developers may not be so scared to push the envelope on adult orientated games when they know it should only legally reach the hands of adults.
Steve @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Screw Jeb and Bush there both dumb hicks, and screw EA i wont buy another game from them in a "long TIME".
Steve @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Oh and also EA is realy stupid for doing something like this knowing at this time of war and the polictical war going on right now it's just not the time for something like this.
