PS2: Resident Evil 4 details
Resident Evil 4 hit the GameCube hard back in January. And despite there being millions of PS2 owners that haven't
yet experienced this masterpiece, there isn't much buzz over the PS2 port set for US release in October. Perhaps in an
effort to attract newcomers, Capcom has added a few exclusives to the already complete title. The PS2 version will
include a series of new chapters titled, "Separate Ways", which casts Ada Wong as the central character that players
will control—an extension of the "Assignment Ada" mission included in the original release.
In addition, several new unlockable weapons have been tossed into the mix, including the PRL412 laser cannon and the
Gunpowder Bow Gun. PS2 gamers will also be treated to new costumes. While there has been some speculation about a
visual downgrade in the PS2 port, early reports have shown that the original graphical presentation remains in tact.
Don't sleep on this one folks.

I'm just waiting for some of my friends to pick up the port. As soon as they do I'll have to 'accidently' ruin the story for them, since, you know, I beat it in January.
Based on what I've seen on ign, the stills look comparable but the GC version is still going to run smoother. It definitely was a very nice looking game.
I'm glad the over-the-shoulder view got so much acclaim. I really thought it added to the action and improved the 'horrid' controls (at least that's what I'm told, I never had a problem with them).

Why even bother to put new stuf in the frickin game. The GC version kicked ass and now Capcoms just snuffin the game right back in the face.
Hell, the game got great reviews from like everyone. They just need to market it good, not give PS2 fanboys more crud again. GC kids expectin great stuff from Capcom just keep gettin busted by 'em. They didn't even hold up the deal with Nintendo!!!!

Jeb, was that an insult to Nintendo or something? You really need to make your points clearer, and if you dont have one, then nobody wants to hear what you have to say.

The biggest drop in graphics are the character models, you can really notice it comparing screens.
I've also heard other things like textures are pretty weak, but it's good to hear the game won't be miles apart.
Just a shame Capcom have screwed us Nintendo/Sony/Capcom/RE fans over with the extras that we'll miss out on. Great way to piss fans off!

Jake his point is quite clear, he's mad that capcom is porting a supposed GC exclusive over to PS2 and they get extra stuff...Boo hoo!
chill @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Come on, most games that are released on a different system then the original system it was developed for has extras...Kinda the industry standard. There's no way its going to look better then the cube version. I just Hope they do a better job then Rockstar did with the GTA San A port, it looked worse on Xbox then PS2.
courtney @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Just not intersted, I beat it in Jan. too, and the controls rocked on GC, why would I want a drop in graphics, and controls?
Blue Balloon @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
All I can said....
HAHA PS2 got PWNED!
Loki @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
Is that all you can said? Or dont you have a little more to said?
F**KING IDIOT.

Capcom isnt "spitting in the face of Gamecube players",they're doing a smart move for business. It's like when the GTA games get put on the Xbox. They need a little something new/extras that the title didnt have when it was first released to get people to buy a copy of the game.Gamers anymore own more than one console if not all of the current ones,so if you played Resident Evil 4 on the Gamecube and liked it but never really thought of buying it,here's that extra incentive to get you to buy the game.
I'm ok with it on the Gamecube but i'd much rather it on the Playstation due to the controller. I'm convinced the controller on the Gamecube was made for 5 year olds with down-syndrome the way the buttons are layed out.
WinsonKOH @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
So capcom of re4 did break the promise to Nintendo gamecube so what, at least it didn't release for xbox..
Makaveli @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
just two more dayz!!!

Yo, whoever said that the GC version is better can suck my nuts. I got thePS2 version and I have played both. PS2 beat Gamecube down with a baseball bat with nails puntured at the end. Not only does it run smoother, look better, greater controls, but it also has the new mini-game features added onto the game which allows for even more extended gameplay. FUCK GAMECUBE. AND FUCK ITS NEXT GEN. Nintendos down and out for the fuckin count.
