posted by SCEA on the official PSP message board, the US version of the system 2.0 software update will no be made
available until sometime "during the week of August 15th, instead of on August 12, as previously reported."
Apparently, the patch still needs more time in the oven or something Special thanks to Joystiq user

going to be a long weekend.

psp 2.0 is up everyone. i am typing this using the web browser. but i got a question, i saved a movie in the folder psp/common, but dont know how to view it. im only 13 so i wouldnt know much about that. can someone pleeeezze help meee!!!

im also having problems with memory. i keep getting a message saying there isnt enough, so then the page doesnt load. does this have to do with the memory stick? because i have about 385 megabytes. if anyone could help that would be helpful

i hate to tell u all this but at the end of the month a DS will be a better buy:

M3=$80-100(the M3 is a media flash card device that will allow the DS to hold and play movies
run emulators that are built into the M3, play music, hold photos and also it supports more formats and you can use the flash card for palm pilots, mp3 players, and digital cameras)
((best of all its legal so far and the emulators work great))

and the games are overall cheaper and the titles coming out soon are promised to be better

i got the update on the demo disc. how do you run emulators and videos on this thing? i cant get them to run at all and everytime i try to run an emu it says that the file is corrupted and everytime i try to run an mpeg4 it cant find the file. sh1t, imm not really a computer expert but i cant get a straight answer about this

Well, I don't think it's an issue of giving it more time to be tested, but because they don't want people to download it on a Friday and stress their weekend support personal with support calls. It's better to release it on Monday so they've got their better support staff available.

I'm hoping sony is taking this time because they want more security, which can only mean there might be a way to really crack Jap. 2.0 which I'm going to continue to use unless the NA version adds something cool.

not to piss on you parade but psp homebrew is an expensive scene. first of all the psp is expesnsive (I know, I bouht one). Secondly, I would assume that you would want a 512 or 1 gig memory stick, also expensive. I think that it would be a smarter idea to simply buy a 200 dollar palm pilot, with a much cheaper storage media. Not to deny that it is fun to homebrew on the psp, I didnt buy it for that, or for the mp3 player, or for the movie player. I could easily buy something for less that does it better. I could buy a 1 gig shuffle and a 60 gig pmp, the shuffle would be smaller, and the pmp would hold much more, have greater support for formats, and it could have a larger screen (if I wanted it).

don't own a psp so i don't care. i'm not coughing up $250 for just the base product when all it is a handheld. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT HAS DEAD PIXELS! the psp is way overpriced and while i'd like to have one i don't feel like paying that much for what amounts to a handheld version of a bunch of p21 and ps2 games with the occasional unique title that's fun to play while you're high.

Well people like u that have a DS and i am not sure if u do but if so those people just gunna have to worry about what they are gunna play the psp has better graphics,better features,better audio,better everything the DS has crap ass graphics and no titles that are any good its just abunch of 2d platformers and I HATE PLATFORMERS this year is about next gen consoles and handheld adonises the DS has 3d capabilities but name 1 good game that uses them thats right U CANT and dont talk about the PSP bein overpriced i got mine on EBAY with a charger and a game for 208.00 and that is with the shipping added and the psp works fine so before u go judgin TRY THE DAM THING OUT FIRST DUMBASS

Why do you think the psp is overpriced? If you look at all the stuff it has in it, its worth it. It has an mp3 player($100.00), ps2($175.00) and a portable movie player($150.00).If you add that all up it ends up to be more than the price of the psp(299.99). But it also has a place to store digital photos and now a web browser and more things still to come. I think its worth the money.

omfg guess what i got the japan update to work on my u.s. psp and it is f*cking awsome i foud a way to hack it so it will work man the web browser alone is f*cking awsome i figured it out yesterday and homebrew games work on it to i am so cool huh!

you do it the same as the person did that used x86 emulator and you get and you have to somehow get the xp program on your computer the way i did it is by getting it from warez
and to make it so you can play homebrew games on 2.0 is very complicated i would have to do it for you
