Don't get me wrong. I lived in Australia for awhile and Cricket can actually be an intriguing game to
watch. Less crotch-grabbing, tobacco-chewing with a game that can go on for days. And think of it… Cricket
was perhaps the first game to automate an umpire position. They just use a few posts stuck in the ground behind
the batsman. This week in the UK, Codemaster's Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 is the number one game,
making it one of the few titles in the world to beat out the monolithic EA in the sports category. EA has a
cricket game on the market, ingeniously named "Cricket 2005" (how do marketing people come up with these
names?). Even Empire has a release dubbed (wait for it) "International Cricket Captain 2005" for the
PC. The list of Cricket titles in the world is lengthy, for those who are curious
In fact, there is another noticeable characteristics of the UK charts this week… an over abundance of mediocre movie
franchise titles in the top five - Madagascar, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Four. Slow week for
game sales, indeed.
Only in the UK, Cricket is the number one game of the week
