Just out of curiosity, does this really matter to gamers at all?

I don't know about you, but I'm making sure I get a nice "Celestica" Xbox.

But, aside from the purposes of making jokes and badying about sarcasm...nobody cares. Though we DO care which parts are going into it. They've unveiled the names of the manufacturing plants, but notice how they're silent about whether or not we're getting Thompson drives again.

Frankly, I'm just getting tired of constant "news" barrage surrounding theses consoles. There's so much more going on and it just gets drowned out by the latest fraction of data any of these companies slip about their consoles. Give me something I care about or just shut up about it.

I just love it because in a lot of PS3/Xbox360 debates on this forum(basically any thread that contains either word), more often than not someone will chime in with "I'm buying American because I support my country!"

Way to "buy American". Support the company that outsources production so they can get it done at cheaper rates. Not blaming them(MS), but it's really foolish to claim you're buying American and supporting our country.

I always think of that Russian dude in Armageddon when someone says buy American...

"Sir, you don't know this ship, it's American."

"American, Russian, all is made in Taiwan!"

It's an interesting point to raise to all the ignorant fanboys who shout "buy American" in favor of the x-box.

That, and its interesting that the cost will be so high despite the fact that they're outsourcing the labor (I'll bet you I can get an x-box360 in Chinatown for a lot less than the retail price. ;)).

Other than that, why should this be manufactured differently than any other piece of consumer electronics? Even Japan outsources to China.

Who cares where it is made. Most electronics are made in China or Taiwan anyway. Big deal, how is this news worth posting?

For your information

Celestica is from Canada
Flextronics International Ltd. if from Singapore
Wistron Corp. is located in Taiwan.

But you are correct in one thing...all consiles will be made in the Pearl River Delta region in Southern China.

I predict it's going to have quite a few recalls,
quality is often overlooked in China.

I don't know about the Chinese manufacturers, but Celestica is a HORRIBLE PC manufacturer. I work at a very large tech company and we have a few Celestica blades and they have bent in the middle due to the weight, and mind you, there are 1U; therefore they should be light. Other problems include, sharp edges on the covers, awkwardly placed KVM connectors, and poor PCI slot. From all of our blade servers the Celesticas are by far the worst manufactured ones.

I know Celestica will follow the blueprint from Microsoft, but watch out. It might be that one company will be in charge of a certain model (e.g. $399 or $299). If I were to buy an Xbox 360 (which I won't) I would make sure that it is NOT Celestica made.

morons, the monitors you're staring at right now, the keyboards you're typing on, and the mice you are navigating with (and oh, not to mention the whole damn boxes that are running everything) are made or at least composed of parts made/assembled in China. if you think an Xbox made in China will explode, then you might as well stop using electronics and go live in the woods.

point being, it doesn't matter where the hell it is made, so long as it's cheap! ^_- And if making it in china or mexico gives me a low priced product, so be it!
