The Digital Bits, a DVD listing website for current and upcoming releases, has started a section for PSP UMD movies.
A large number of movie studios are jumping onto the UMD bandwagon which has made tracking the latest releases harder
and harder. Currently there are around 120 titles either already out or due to be released on the UMD format, with
prices ranging from $14.99 to $29.99. The range and quality of the upcoming titles listed on the site is very
encouraging for the format as a convienient way of watching movies on the go. Titles like Pulp Fiction and The
Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy due to be released on the 13th September are sure to entice potential portable gaming
customers with an interest in portable video away from Nintendo's rival platform, the DS. However, with all this talk
of portable video on the PSP, the gaming aspect of the device is being pushed out of the limelight. Could heightened
focus on UMD movies allow Nintendo to gain an edge in the gaming arena?
