Generation NEX: introducing the ultra-slim NES
Forget about that slim PS2, Sony's got nothin' on the
Generation NEX. Props to Messiah—even if Nintendo won't see a penny—for reinventing the wheel with this compact version
(only 1.5" tall) of the original NES. The Generation NEX includes built-in 2.4GHz wireless support and dual cartridge
slots (NES & Famicom). The system also comes with one wired controller and retails for $59.95—available August
31st.

What does the wireless do?

Just to clarify, does the $59.99 Core Version comes with Component HD cables?
Lectoid @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Yea, there's no way Nintendo will have a problem with this, not with their current raid on those all-in-one controllers in the malls.

I'm not 100% on this one, but isn't messiah a legit company that manufactures Nintendo hardware for the chinese market. I think they are, so this would be legal. Not sure though. I want one.

I have been thinking about snagging an old second gen NES (the one styled like the SNES that was released after the SNES) or maybe just a Dreamcast since it has a pretty good NES emulator.
Is the wireless support for controllers or what?

woah, poking around that website...
I already forget that Ninetendo made the iQue for the Chinese market altogether.
Interesting that nobody brought up the thing when considering the Revo controller...

The wireless support is for the controllers. You can buy wireless controllers separately. The controllers look nice too. Like SNES ones with NES buttons. They also sell SNES wireless controllers so gues where that might be going. I'm getting one. ASAP

If only I had known that a slim version would have been comming out, I would have waited over 15 years to buy it.
Seems really nice...I'm going to buy to add to my NES collection.

I've seen a Messiah video televised on a community access channel here in Sacramento. I don't know if they intended it to be an infomercial, but it wasn't exactly clear what point they were trying to make with it. I finally noticed some modified NES controllers they were pitching, but it was shot like a long version of a music video, and poorly at that. Its a clear example of the fact that just because iMovie came with your Macintosh does not mean you are automatically a qualified director.

It would be cool if they now would re-release some of the games too...

I've had the Messiah wireless NES and SNES controllers for a few months now. I really like them; they're 2.4ghz wireless so they work as flawlessly as my Wavebird does. They're surprisingly light and very comfortable too.
My only complaint is that the crosspad has been replaced with an 8-way tilt pad. Sort of like an analog stick. It can make pressing one direction challenging since it's easy to roll the stick.
I can't wait to get a Generation NEX when they come out. The current controllers have a receiver which dangles from a 10-inch cord, the NEX has the wireless receiver built in so you don't have to have that receiver dangling from the front of your console.

@#3
they created their own NES board from what i've gathered. it's 100% identical to the original NES configs so that's a way around that. and nubytech is distributing in america so some small stores will probably be carrying these.
and nintendo really has only cracked down on people releasing/selling the ROMs. that's when they get angry. and youwon't like them when they're angry...
GameScanner @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I tested the system at local mom & pops store in Chicago. Works great. Controllers are crappy however. If you want to play your NES again this is money well spent. I could argue on the final visual design quality. It could look nicer and edges could be smoother. I do not like Messiah logo at all. I'll stick to the original NES or top loading NES, but that's just me. Simply put money well spent.

Beware, this is an unlicensed clone that is incompatible with many popular NES games.
