New Game Boy micro design goes retro
Last week, we ran a
story on Nintendo's new website promoting Mario's 20th
birthday (whether or not you feel Mario was born when he was called Jump man in the Donkey Kong games is moot). Videos
3 and 4 came out and the secret to September 13th is revealed: on the day that Mario was "born," Nintendo plans on
releasing a Famicon version of the Game Boy Micro. You can see it in action in the
video section or check out the snazzy look
pictured at the right right. I personally like this style, although I am disappointed that this website is likely not
revealing any new Revolution information as we all
hoped.
Don't let yourself believe that this model will come out in the United States anytime soon – likely, it will never see
an official release here. But the good news is that Game Boys aren't region-specific, so you could import one, if you
really wanted to, and play your US games on it.
[Thanks, Sean]

That is red and GOLD my man! Sweet deliscious red and gold! I hope it has a built-in mic like the original famicom controller did; for no reason of course! I'm sold on that bad boy, do they have keychain rings for the micros? Hmmm, belt buckle attachment perhaps?

The Mario 20, if you haven't noticed, celebrates the game Super Mario Bros. not necessarily Mario himself. Why they're not waiting to pull out all the stops for the true Mario 25 is beyond me (but probably involves money.)
