WOW, were to begin...
First up : Nigma - "reused most of the code and assets for Halo 2"
Pure Lie, Fact is that bungie only reused the 3% of Halo 1 code in Halo 2 and that code was portions of the audio engine...

Hmm Again Nigma - "But, god damn, the master chief sure looks the same, as does the wart hog, and pretty much everything else between the first and second versions. More polys and normal mapping, yeah, but it's based on the original models and textures and game code. The vehicles drive the same, the controls feel the same and the game plays the same despite the improved looks. I wonder why that is, since they spent so much time re-doing everything for absolutely no reason, other than to back up you innane arguement. That's because they would be absolutely stupid to start completely from scratch with such a successful framework already in place."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again complete Bull Shit, first off MC doesn't look the same, Bungie re-animated the look of his his suit, for that they also COMPLETELY remade every single bitmap and model. Have you even played either games? (lemme venture a guess, still think your PS2 is "Teh Awsome R0x0000rz") Original game code my arse, they didn't even using the same physics engine, or sound engine, or animation engine, or multiplayer network engine, or UI engine or even the same cutscene engine for that matter...

Threnody - "I'll take fanboys over homophobic bigotry any day"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Couldn't agree more...

KINGCOBRA - "I agree fully with DIGITAL. The story on HALO was fantastic and very intriguing. I think it could be an awesome movie. Should have a good story and some great Edge of your Seat thrills. Good Popcorn movie!!"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, though I wonder if it will feel to different watching a Halo story unfold with a bag of popcorn in hand rather than a controller...

eric - "I sure hope they don't hold the game until the movie release"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I sure hope they do, Halo 2 took 3 years in development, and that was after Bungie had previous experience with the XBOX platform and hardware, XBOX360 nearly 90% different so thus they have to once again relearn everything from scratch. so sure 2007 is pretty far away, but this is Halo we are talking about here, Halo is more than likely to become a true hallmark of gaming, something people will remember in 20 years, and because of that Halo 3 has to be as PERFECT as human, technologically and physically possible...

Now for all u ppl that are true fans of Halo. You should know that Halo3 is already and has been done. The reason it has been done is b/c it is the finishin part of Halo2. Halo2 was 2 long so they cut it in half. So really don't be suprised if it is out b4 the movie. Which I really see as a good idea, just in case the when u go 2 play the game it doesn't have the same things as the movie, u don't get upset and not want 2 play.

I'm just pointing out: A movie costs money to make, SOMEBODY is paying for it. and promoting the finished film, as well as physically duplicating the prints and distributing them around is generally another 1/2 of the budget (i.e. a $100 million movie often gets an ADDITIONAL $50 million put towards commericals, magazine ads, billboards, promotions as well as duplicating the prints and shipping them to and from the theaters). So yeah, everyone involved in this movie HOPES for your statement, which was "everyone MAKES a profit," but it's not always like that when a movie tanks.

Even popular, seemingly successful films don't really make 'gazillions' of dollars in domestic theater release, look to this web page to see what I mean:

http://movies.go.com/boxoffice?cat=alltime

Even 'Matrix' only pulled in $181 million theatrically, the money came back with home release and overseas distro. It's a LOT of money, $181 million, but still... Not the kind of money you imagine when somebody asks you: "What do you think Matrix did in the theaters?"

As for Kerelia's comment about mine, I would ask you to re-read what I wrote and please note the word 'DERIVATIVE' I used, meaning that while the concepts of ring-worlds and space marines are new to many playing Halo, they are concepts very likely influenced or DERIVED from RingWorld, Starship Troopers, and Aliens. OBVIOUSLY there are other concepts in the game lifted from the bible; but don't ignore the other influences and say Halo has 'nothing to do with Ring World and Starship Troopers' - of course the 'Halo Gamer's Guide' won't tell you where the original concepts came from, but they were thought of by someone else (or maybe even 'ripped-off' by someone else first) in other sci-fi media before you saw them in Halo. Tha't what I was getting at.

Halo 3 maybe will come out with the film in 2007. If thats the case they will no doubt release a halo 2.5! (or whatever!) for the 360 - at least the same game (coz it was desgined to run on next gen).

If they want the get a quick up take of consoles, who will buy a £300 360? not the masses of loyal halo fans with wads of cash! until 2007...

2007 or not, I guess to find out all we have to do is keep up with bungie's news. I for one think that it should come out before 2007. They dont want to keep the halo gamers waiting..

(if anybody asks, halo 2.5 was the multiplayer map pack + bonus)

Halo has a very good storyline for a game. Read the books, Fall of Reach (my fav of the three)has the feel of Solder (movie staring Kurt Russel about genetically engenired super solders), and it also has the flaver of Starship Troopers (the book) during the training. The Flood was also well written and even though it's the same story as Halo CE, you get to see what else is going on with other chariters while your MC in the game, example is Sgt. Jhonson and Captain Key's backstorys. First Strike is verry good too, I'm just upset that the game Halo 2 didn't follow it as well as it could have (where are the other Spartens?). I'm looking forwad to a new book set in the Halo 2 timefram to redeam some of the storyline.

If they get Ridly Scott to direct then this would be an excellent movie. My only problem with it so far is that they have Alex Garland slotted as the writer. 28 days latter looked good in previews but totaly sucked big time. The Beach was also crappy but that could just be pre-"catch me if you can" Decaprio.

I'm excited about halo 3. it will most likely kick ass, as long as bungie gives something new to offer in the game. Good video game movies are either rare or non-existant. If done right i think the movie could be pretty sweet. But, i won't make any choices till it comes out. I have nothing against sony or nintendo they both have strong holds in the industry. i think all consoles are great.

Look people, I don't have nothing against Bungie, Microsoft, or whatever. Their just trying to make the game as good as any other game that other action games have, like Half-life 2, resident evil 4, Splinter Cell:Chaos Theory, etc. Their all pretty damn good games, and Halo 3 and the Halo movie will be too. Unlike Bill Gates, he is rather more competative, trying to make things sooner and trying to show them "It is better than your console or game" right into their faces and all things come crashing down and everything goes horrible, I'm not saying he's an idiot, if you want to think so, their just trying to make it a very good game and know the right time to announce its release date at the future, 2007 was a good release date but releasing the game at 2006 with PS3 I think was a bad choice unless they started it way back then. I believe it will be a good game and I trust Bungies jugement on that and other companies that are helping. If there are people who don't care about it or don't like the game and that they complain about it in this room and at the companies, well you can just shut your god damn hole about it and go to something that really interests you, other than complain about the game because "ITS TOO SUCKY FOR ME TO PLAY" go to something you really want to do that you find interesting and try to forget your proplems about the game, and if that isn't good enough for you, someone outa but you down. Now where was I, yes, I know it will be good game because they have people working on it half a day, perhaps even 24 hours a day, and their working hard to get it done because its thier job to make the game good and I respect that, so they can enjoy the game they made and be happy with the job they got. And at the end , it would all be worth the work. That is all I have to say.

People, read bungie.net before you say anything about halo 3, have they annouced that they are working on halo 3? NO. Are they? yes, read the weekly update for this week http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=tgs&p=4797599
The last paragraph, for the people to lazy to copy and paste the link, is writen by one of the bungie guys (frankie) who went to tokyo for some video game show, and people there asked if he was there to unveil the game, and this is what he said
"A few folks asked me if I was there to unveil Halo 3. I smiled and told them the usual Bungie line. We haven't announced our new project yet, blah, blah, blah. We may not have announced it, but its coming along nicely. " http://www.bungie.net/News/TopStory.aspx?story=tgs&p=4797599 is his weekly article, get some facts and read from the people who make the game before you blabber about it. And if you want to read about the movie there are tid bits from earlier weekly updates about the movie. so READ before you post

My name is Matt Lahens. I don't know how I stumbled on this forum but before you ask, yes I do work for Bungie. I have only one comment and that is that if Halo 3 is released in 2007 it will be for a good reason. Everyone, including myself, wants to see this this be the best possible ending to the series and it takes time to do things like this. I mean, the kind of rendering systems we're using take a hell of a lot of time to use and we're talking about top-edge programming! We've made a lot of improvements from the last game and I think you'll find its worth the wait. Although I am not allowed to say much I can answer some of your questions about the game. (Post questions!)

Hi I have a few questions about halo 3, in this next game how many halo will the player have to destroy. In the end of the last game at the end I counted 7 other halos on the map at the end.

Or are we jus destroying the supper structure that will activate the rest of them?
