EBGames.com is taking pre-orders for the
Xbox 360, and just like when the
PSP came out they're doing their best to gouge all the bleeding edge gamers who want/need to have the console first by
forcing you to purchase either a $700 "Ultimate Bundle" that comes with four games and a ton of accessories or a $600
"Core Bundle" which comes with the same four games but fewer accessories. Pre-ordering either the basic $299 console or
even the $399 bundle simply isn't an option, at least not at the moment, though it remains to be seen what pre-order
options other retailers end up offering.

Man these bundle prices are ridiculous + unbelieveable. I don't blame the retailers though, they know they can sell em.
The lowest priced bundle I've seen starts in the $500 range offered by Wal-mart. Have a look at http://www.pre-orderxbox360.com to see the different ones.
If you are planning on ordering one, you better do it soon cause these are gonna sell out like hot cakes.

Well folks, I can only suggest to those who are still undecided as to what to do to get a move on-I read in at least one gamer mag as well as seeing this on the net that: AT INITIAL LAUNCH XBOX WILL HAVE ONE MILLION UNITS FOR DISTRIBUTION WITH FULLY ONE THIRD OF THAT GOING TO JAPAN FIRST. This is not an exact quote, but as close as I can remember. This does not include the European distribution or other areas. If you do the math, it does not leave a heck of a lot for the [presumably huge] N.A. market! If those reports are true, that will be the "real deal"when launch day arrives!

The following (pricing) details come from my own purchase confirmation email from Walmart.com Xbox 360 pre-order page (when it was still active on 1 Sep.). Their site was functional for about 24hrs (or less) before preorders were shut down. I placed my order before noon on 1 Sep. I thought it was interesting that they charged me $49.92 for the "Microsoft Live 12 month Gold Card Xbox 360". Other news reports have it going for $60.
Also worthy of note is Walmart's statement as to when the order will arrive. The Premium System and one of the games I was allowed to choose... (Battlefield 2) has no proposed arrival date. The rest of the items listed state:
Will arrive between Thursday, 11/17/05, and Wednesday, 11/23/05

Sure it is easy to be a compulsive buyer so you can have the newest toys on the block. But I think it would be wise to see what advantage there is in buying the premium version over the core version and what the networking capabilities are. Plus wait awhile and eventually the modchips will come out and make the system 10 times better. I have 3 modded boxes networked in my house and you can't beat the Xbox Media Center (XBMC). So the wise decision would be to wait and see how things pan out, unless you've got money to burn and have to be the first in line to impress your buds.

I pre ordered my xbox360 today and I could get the core package for 349. which included everything you need to start and one controller. I ordered the other controller, memory card, and games separately and it came out to 609.00 and free shipping. go to www.ritzcamera.com

I pre-ordered a Platinum system from RitzCamera.com for $419.00 plus shipping and the very next day I got an email stating,"The Xbox 360 will remain extremely allocated for the Holiday season and into the beginning of the New Year. In order to guarantee product allocation for your order, we have received word that Microsoft is requiring all Xbox console units be sold with a minimum of 4 games to each console ordered."
I went back to the site and I swear that it wasn't there when I ordered but now it says in big red letters about the four games.

you can still order the premium edition for $420 at alliwire.

You are correct about Alliwire, but he doesnt take Paypal anymore, and is sending emails to everyone who preordered stating this, and to just write him a check or money order to his address. C'mon, who is going to send this guy money for an xbox through money order or check? I know im not

DAMMIT, I ordered my xbox360 from ritzcamera.com about the same time as you guys, but I never saw that thing about the 4 games. And they never emailed me. They did admit that they don't ship the xbox360's though, they dropship from a different location, so they don't know how many come in, or when they'll come out.
