i hope this installment is more of a sandbox approach. when i played the first underground, i saw so many cool places to go and skate up, but the developers were just lazy and instead of going to cool places, i just got some stupid message like don't do drugs.

I'm excited and not for this. One, this "big streaming level" is basically the size of 13 levels, just you don't choose to warp to the different areas, you have to skate there. Makes me wonder if you can just take the subway to a different section or something, some form of warp.

The soundtrack is going to fucking blow. The game takes place in the 80's, so the songs are all old punk songs like Bad Brains, Casualties, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, etc... BUT - the big ruiner, is that they're being covered by bands like My Chemical Romance, the Killers, Motion City Soundtrack, Fallout Boy, etc. Sucks, don't it? Why not just play the originals is what I'm askin...

This game is hugely a GTA style game... Which is good for the series I think though. I'm really hoping for some natural skating areas. I'm in agreeance with Parsons, sadly. THPS2 levels like the school and beach were amazing. They were all modeled very clearly like actual places. Like the Leap of Faith gap on THPS2's School is something that Jamie Thomas actually did. The entire level has spots that you can see in skate vids left and right. Same goes for most the levels in it. I'm hoping for more of that, and less extravegant showings.

To this day though, my favorite skating game has to be Rockstar's "Thrasher: Skate and Destroy" - The game was awesome. The levels were sweet, and the physics of skating were a lot more realistic. Being a skater, that was a big draw for me. That and actually having to land the moves by holding a button was fun. Added a lot of style IMO.

All and all I look forward to it, but I hope the X360's hard drive will let me use custom soundtracks...

christopher i know exactly what you mean. Thrasher: Skate and Destroy beats any tony hawk game. Though i have throughly enjoyed all the thony hawk games so far. excluding THUG2 of course which i didnt buy because i saw an ad with absolutely no skateboarding in it.

and the soundtrack, just kill me now. Fall Out Boy covering Gorilla Biscuits...i thought the government was supposed to stop this crap form happening.

THUG2 wasn't that bad actually. I played through it recently when my bro-in-law bought it. Each level has one non-skater that's a playable character... But I'd say only two of the levels were really rememberable. One big upside though, is if you play through the classic mode, they have like 6 levels redone from previous Tony Hawk's, dating all the way to THPS1 with the Downhill Jam. They also have the Airport from 3, Canada from 3... And there are more, I just can't think of them off the top of my had. My favorite part of THUG and THUG2 by far is the wallplant. It's so sweet to pop off a ramp, do a kickflip, plant the wall, then do a 360 mute back onto the rap. It just looks amazing. THUG added a lot to the aging series, breathed fresh life into it IMO. Lots of great levels, and inclusions of three THPS2 levels. THUG2 on the other hand... Well, it just kept me alive 'til THAW.

Looks can be deceiving...i really hope this Tony Hawk isnt going to be bad man, if this game blows (60 bucks out of the pocket) >_< im kind've scared But so far the game looks nice and i hope the graphics are different from the screen shots because with all this New Gen jazz I was expecting like almost real life (lol)or atleast facial features not too much emphaisis though but hopefully Neversoft and Activision can pull this off
