Killzone 2 for the PS2 in January?
EB Games has ignited the latest speculation
about the Killzone franchise. According to a pre-order listing, Killzone 2 is destined for the PlayStation
2 as early as January 2006. What?! Perhaps Sony is planning a dual release, offering a PS2 version early next year, and
then a beefed-up edition alongside the PS3. Or maybe, the PS3 will get the Killzone 3 treatment—as this concept art implies. Then again, it could
all be a simple misunderstanding…

So does that mean the footage at E3 was in game from the PS2

Sweet. Killzone rocked. Hopefully they'll fix all of the bugs and slowdowns for the sequel.

So it's being pre-rendered at EB Games? Is it a bundle?

In OPM, they said something about Killzone 3 for the PS3... or it could be a typo.

In OPM they said something about Killzone 3 for the PS3... but it could've been a typo.

I heard Killzone 2 was going to be on the PSP, and Killzone 3 was the PS3 version. This is the first I have EVER heard of another Killzone on the PS2.

No, It's always been Killzone 3 on the PS3. People only inferred that it would be Killzone 2, but official concept art has since illustrated otherwise. I believe Killzone 2 has always been slated for the PS2 (I don't know where that PSP idea came from). I reckon I read a really old interview somewhere where guerilla mentioned they were working on a sequel slated for PS2 release.

Killzone SUCKS!
That game was just another blockbuster-wannabe on the part of Sony (in direct response to Halo) and they made a BIG MISTAKE striking that multi-million dollar deal with the untalent Guerilla Games and together they promoted their pathetic FPS game as a "Halo-killer".
I know lots of Sony diehards here in my place, all of them acting childish and impulsively whenever that damned game surfaced. When they finally got to play Killzone, they PRETENDED to enjoy the game (because it sucked and disappointed them) and no matter how hard they try to act loving it, it's pretty obvious that Killzone failed to live up to its hype!
More about the future of Killzone, obviously there will be more games coming out hence the contract with Guerrilla. But the franchise is Sony-owned so obviously they have to promote the franchise all around no matter what happened to their past games.
Killzone sequel for PS2 has been announced EVEN BEFORE the release of the shitty game. What Sony did not clarify however is what the sequencing of further KZ games are.
Maybe Killzone 2 is for PS2 and KZ 3 for PS3.
Another thing, PSM (America) review of Killzone had a score of 9.5 out of 10 (an undeserving score). It's pretty obvious that PSM's review was merely propaganda to benefit Sony (because without Sony's games, the magazine would cease to exist!).

Oh man the PS2 couldn't run the first one well enough to make it enjoyable IMHO so I think they should just hold off and focus on the PS3 version. Or heck remake the first for the PS3 because I think it was a game with tons of potential that was limited by the hardware.

Guerilla, the developer of Killzone is from The Netherlands, where we have this funmagazine called Power Unlimited. They have frequent one-on-one's with the developers... So... Yeah. Kilzone 2 has always been in development for the PS2, they started working on it right before or after the release of the first Killzone. Secondly, they had nothing to do with the Killzone 3 footage released at the E3. It was done by a special effects compnay from the U.S. This is all confirmed by Guerilla. Eventually there will be a Killzone Whatever for the PS3, but my guess is the PS3 won't hit us 'till the end of 2006, beginning of 2007... Why? You cannot include a Blu-ray drive untill the official specification is finished plus, have you seen the size of the PS3 dev unit (19 inch rack mountable, anyone?)... They've got some serious work to do!

oh brother. how on earth xbox diehards also own ps2's anyway can determine if we ps2 lovers (who never owned a big box called xbox) pretended to like killzone? take it or leave it. ps2 fans are market forces and movers. Look, its now almost a year and grand theft auto vice city IS STILL IN THE CHARTS in PS2 while your original halo 2 is nowhere to be found. halo2 may be a hit, but any ps2 software or game is bound to stay in the charts for MONTHS. Their racing game GRAND TURISMO is still in the charts SIX MONTHS in the release. 70 million ps2 owners ARE NOT EASILY SWAYED by xbox360 which cannot play our thousands of dollars of GAME INVESTMENT IN PS1 and PS2. PS3 will win by sheer ability to PLAY OLD PS2 games. I BET YOU. MIcrosoft will have to eat their words again,
