As Nintendogs mania continues to sweep Japan and the United States, EuroGamer talks with
Nintendogs mastermind Hideki Konno on the past, present, and future of the Nintendogs franchise. Of note:
-
Initially the game was to be released as 15 different versions - one for each breed.
-
Two pets were considered in the beginning: dogs and cats. The models and voice data for the cats are already complete.
-
Shigeru Miyamoto is "something of a semi-professional [dog] breeder."
Since some of the work has already been completed on "Nintencats," and given the popularity of their current hit, it
is more than likely that we will soon hear word of another slew of pet simulation games for the Nintendo DS. After
Nintencats, expect to see such wonderful games as Nintenhorse, Ninteniguana, and Nintengoldfish.
What animal would you like to see as a Nintendogs-style game?
