Apples are growing at origenxbox360.com
The green bunny silhouette has hopped its way to the other side of the tree, which is now growing a pair of green
apples. If you haven't been following Microsoft's latest viral marketing campaign for the Xbox 360, you can
catch up here. Can anyone make sense of
the latest updates? How 'bout a wild guess…

IMO -- The tree is reloving with time (i.e. 360). We are now seeing the back of the tree.
The tree could also be growing (apples) or it could be that those apples were just previously out of sight.
jonathan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
wild guess: maybe apple has something to do with it. itunes on X360? ipod compatable? kinda far feched since ms is apples arch nemises
wild guess: playboy? its got the bunny. its obviously green because that ms color.
it might be counting down to the 360's release. dunno its kind of dumb
Lectoid @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Maybe the apples will fall off and die.
If there were three apples, that could be the 3 cores, but nm.
If i'm not mistaken, that looks like a bonzai tree, which last I heard don't bear fruit. If that is a regular "apple tree", those are some big damn apples.
Boondocksts @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
You can barely see a countdown timer in the background, which currently says 32.23.41.47 (which would be Monday Sept. 26th)
Matt @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Well... "Ori" is the Latin stem meaning "to spring up, to be born, to grow." IMO, "gen" is a reference to the next-generation of consoles.
Other than that, I'm stumped.
Christopher7xii @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
"32.23.41.47"
Sounds like an IP, not a countdown.
Captain Obvious @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Was that black hole under the tree always there?
rpc @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
No, that black hole was not there before.
chris @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Microsoft and apple becoming partners and releasing a special edition 20gb xbox 360 ipod that can be used as your hardrive for an amazing price of $2,000 that's cheap for microsoft. and dont worry it wont come with any feautres that they say it will!!!!
jork @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
if u look at the first one closly u can almost see the ant from the delopers video
Dan Choi @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Any relation to PowerPC chips used in both the 360 and (older) Apple computers? Or a similar functionality for Apple computers to the streaming of media from Windows Media Center PCs? I dunno. I suppose it's possible that everything might get sucked down into a swirling Xbox 360 logo in the end, but I guess that's just me. =)
TiaMaster @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
OK, I don't see ANYTHING in the background, let alone some countdown or IP numbers.
Lost_Canadian @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
It's a lemon tree (or maybe a lime tree).
Venomous @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Its not an IP, its counting down for sure. But besides that, its pretty strange. I bet that there is somthing in the works that will blow us away.
jonathan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
did anyone else get a red background?
jonathan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
the tree is not revolving or turning. if you campare it to the original you can tell its the same except them apples
Hig @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Wait, so I"m the only one who's thought of some sort of "Alice in Wonderland" type methology? Y'know, "How far the rabbit hole goes?"
D1a2r3k @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
or maybe on the 26th they tell us the launch date for the xbox is on nov.1?? that would be a jaw dropping thing to do...
swl72us@yahoo.com @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Or maybe the black hole symbolizes Microsoft's ass, and the rabbit, the banzai tree, and the counter are new things that MS is pulling out of their ass.

Relay @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I would rule out Sept. 26 as being the release date. This little countdown is from the same company that brought you the whole 'i love bees' fiasco. That site had a countdown that had everyone speculating about release dates, etc. As I recall, nothing much at all happened when the countdown ended. MS may release some news or videos about the Xbox 360 on Sept. 26, but nothing earth-shattering will happen.
jordan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
also, after a member from another board decompiled the .swf file, he confirms that the actionscript for the date is:
"target_mill = date.utc(2005,8,27,12);"
that'd be August 27, 2005 12:00 PM (noon), but it should be september...
has anyone set their computer date to September 27, 2005 12:00? it just goes to 00:00:00:00
nothing too exciting, but it does confirm that thats what its counting down to
Peg_Leg @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
alright guys,
Look at the apples on the tree....
look at the apple on the left.
see that weird shadow-like design in the corner of the apple?
do you know what that is?
if not, go back to the site, and right mouse click to zoom in and look at it.
ok spoiler.
It is the logo trademark thing from msn/windows messenger.
it has been prevously rumoured that you could have your xbox 360 go on instant messagner with windows or msn.
Now, it also bring me to think....
in the spanish game convention like 1 month ago , there was a QWERTY keyboard revealed that links on the xbox 360 controller. This world definetly mean that was completely legit.
anyone followin me?
if you dont believe anything that i said.
go ahead, research it.
stirfry @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
So I looked at the html and found there is an alternate jpg of the image with 00.00.00.00 in the background. I tried all sorts of different weeks as the name of the jpg file (HTTP://WWW.ORIGENXBOX360.COM/images/countdown/origen_tease_2_02.JPG), but none worked, not even last weeks, so they must keep their directories clean. I also looked at the swf file (HTTP://WWW.ORIGENXBOX360.COM/swf/countdown/week-2.swf )and found the date specified in the script driving the countdown (target_mill = date.utc(2005, 8, 27, 12); So whatever that means since the 27th is on Saturday maybe thats when they switch the swf or some such malarky. I guess I've caught this viral infection now too. Peace out gamers
jordan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
also, origen is an acronym for "REGION"... and also "IGNORE"
then again, it's also an acronym for "NEGRO I" soo....
jork @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
on google has a site on there news page that has things blown up it shows the similaritys with the icon and the image on the apple and also there is what seems to be 24 on the rabbit

Sony is you friend. Sony will go to heaven. Microsoft is your friend. Microsoft will go to heaven. Nintendo is your friend. Nintendo will go to heaven. Even Sega will go to heaven. As for the tree bunny thing i think that on the 26th of sept. theyll tell us release date as some of u have assumed i think its pretty legit, or some crazy kid made the site.
Epimetheus @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Well, I decompiled that .swf, and the truth is that it doesn't has anything more, besides the script to make that countdown, here's and excerpt of it:
...
targetmill = date.utc(2005,8,27,12)
-and then the whole countdown script
...
besides this the only thing I found was the image that you see there, and there's nothing in the actionscript on that page or in the flash that points there's other stuff to look at, since for the looks of it, the stuff on that website is "manually" put. Tho I wonder why did they "dedicated so much time on trying to hide" the path to the Flash Object with all that unecessary Javascript :S

Growing apples? You're growing the wrong thing.
Xbox without a Hard Drive!?! Grow some balls Microsoft.

I think that it shows first the days which 31 after the minutes and last the seconds. Now i had calculate the remain minutes with the left days and i think that maybe xbox360 will be out at 20 or 21 of october or it will something be done by then. And about the apples, now are green but one day will be red and they will fall.
Brian @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Am I the only one that notices that there are tree apples in the tree it is hard to see but it is there and then it hit me do you see any thing strange about the Xbox 360 Core System and the Xbox 360 box The core is at a 90 degree angel and the 360 is at 180 not at 360 so what dose this mean is there a third system coming out I think that I am on to some thing but I could be wrong. I think that it has something to do whit Japan because why the bonsai tree and what about the GC 2005 European conference they had all of those threes it looked like a park I think that origenxbox360.com is for a new system or something big that MS is hiding from Sony. MS is livening clues all over the place and I think that there will be one at the Tokyo game show. I cannot guess on the tree, a green cutout of a bunny, and a countdown ending on September 27th is for. Go to www.xbox360news.com/Blogs/News/hqs/blr_351.aspx
hapster @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
am i the only one who thinks there is something behind that rabbit. because if you zoom in at the bottom of the rabbit there looks to be a xbox 360 console
Anthony @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
The tree pictured may be a Banyan tree which has an interesting history behind it. One thing is that many roots branch off of the main structure and in the ground new trunks can be formed from just one tree forming more and more Banyans in the surrounding area. This may be a symbol that one Xbox 360, stems into your home, and connects you to other Xbox 360s, as well as connectivity with many other things inside your house, and with other players through XBox Live.
Banyan is the pronunciation for the word "Bodhi" in ancient India language, and it means consciousness or intelligence. It refers to the state when a person becomes "awake" for something suddenly or comes to realize the truth or reaches an outstanding level in comprehending the world.
