Microsoft is planning a press conference to cover Japanese launch
details of the Xbox 360 on September 15, a day before the Tokyo Game Show (or TGS) gets started. Presumably, the Xbox
bigwigs will make their case for consumers to support their next-gen platform in Japan, and hopefully get a jump on TGS
announcements from Nintendo and Sony as they'd attempted to do right
before E3.
Getting the average/mainstream customer to gain an interest in the next generation is a noble (er, profitable?) goal, but it's debatable whether their MTV stunt back in May lost more people (well, the hardcore ones at least) than it gained. Whether an MTV-style show or an Asian show of force will appeal to the Japanese audience is still up in the air, but the only questions we're interested in now are: Will Elijah Wood (or his Japanese equivalent) be there, and what kinds of fashions will we see? One can only hope we catch Big Bill G. in his happenin' Xbox parka again. We'll see you in Tokyo!
