I hate going shopping. People are stupid. I used to work at Kay Bee toy's and black friday was the worst. Mothers would literally push, kick and punch to get the toys their kids wanted. I will be pissed if I have to be in the middle of that mess to pick up my Xbox360. At least release it the day before thanksgiving or something!

Ps3 is guessed by the "experts" to be anywhere from $300-$450 USD.. I would expect and be willing to pay atleast that, no more than $500.. It seems SONY may have gotten something right with this one..

With some advertising xBox 360 at $250-$300, SONY better make Ps3 worth every penny.

Most places like EB games and GAmestop will be open Midnight the day before. Even if it is Thanksgiving. Alot of workers are willing to get paid the overtime just to open for like 3-4 hours at night. Well my friend who's a store manager told me so anyways. They already had a conference all about all this stuff.

Don't pre-order, just buy it somewhere non-obvious such as K-Mart, Target, Ralph's Tobaccery and Electronictorium, etc. Then go pee on someone who fell asleep waiting in line at E.B. McGamestop's.

PS2, Halo 2, you name it. Every time there's a supposed shortage, there are stacks collecting dust at huge national chains that spend millions on advertising, but that people just don't associate with video games.

gas will probably be $4 - $4.50. i don't think retailers will be breaking any records this year if people can't afford to get to the store, preorder or not. this, of course, excludes the xbox fanboys, who will just have to cry to their mommies a bit louder.

I'm getting a Revo. I might think of PS3, but it's rumoured to be hellishly expensive, I can hardly except the price of $300 for the core bundle of the 360, hope the Revo goes for under $300.

The only game that ever remotely interested me on the original Xbox was DoA:XBV and so far, I haven't been reeled in by anything they're talking about for the 360. I may be the VelocityGirl they're expecting to draw in, but I'd rather go with the Rev or PS3. Knowing both Sony and Nintendo, I know I'll find something I like.

Well xBox 360 will host the new Quake 4 game..

Though Quake/Doom have kind've lost their originally touches, it should be one of the hottest games to start with.

Though the release date for Q4 is 17-November, think that's an indication of any release dates for the console?

I never understand why so many people fall for the pre order marketing buzz. I've bought most of the systems that have come out since the nes. Almost all on the day they came out with no waiting in line. In the worst case maybe I had to call 2-3 stores before going out to get one. Games have been the same experience for me. Even with sytems like the psp when people were online complaining about "shortages" I would see stacks of systems and games in a number of stores.

Ok- ps3: $450 (includes HD-DVD or BR, and large HD)

360: $300 (does not include extra $50 for HD and extra $100 for new disc drive)

prices will even out, and it will be left up to the games and how they use the system. M$ may make some sales by jumping to the market, but is being first best in the long run? Or is holding out and selling a complete system better?

I think I'll stick to my current gaming options until I figure out who's shooting themselves in the foot.

Wow, black friday would be the worst idea ever.
First, who the hell would want to deal with all those other shoppers to get their system? I know shopping at BestBuy then is basically an hour to two hour line over here.

Second, nobody will have that kind of money to spend. 90% of people out on that day will be spending on shit that is marked down 50+%, not a system they can get over the weekend for the same price.

Honestly, I hope this happens and Xbox has a horrible launch. Would just hilarious to me for watching/reading.

Way to go MS....Launch on the one day in the year when retailers have zero time to tend to the special needs of a successful launch....It is also skillful to go after the mass market on the same day they expecting to spend money on other people, not themselves. Naw, let's not launch in early or mid Nov and get the some of the Christmas spending $ before it's been spent on other things...Let’s do it on the same day as people go out to start their Christmas sending and compete with all those other needs. Brilliant. This is going to have the makings of a great HBS case on how not to do a new product launch.

There's plenty of games coming out this year on current consoles that seem worth purchase, Zelda sometime next year... I don't know what the rush is all about. Microsoft pandering to the masses, we have almost nothing on Sony and we don't even know what the hell the Revolution is.

The Xbox almost had me this time until all this Core System crap. Just charge $400 or here's a great idea, don't use a mini proprietary Hard Drive.

Oh, and Black Friday still is one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Apparently the morning was the worst since there are all these deals that expire by noon. I came in at like 2 o'clock so I didn't see any of that. Basically retail work at Christmas time sucks.

Ummm, Spxero, what the hell are you talking about? First of all, you have no clue how much the PS3 is going to be, because no one really does. Second of all, you have no idea whether or not a HDD is even going to be included with PS3, let alone how large it will be, because no one does (if anything, Sony has 'indicated' that their HDD will be large and WILL be optional though of course this is unofficial).

BTW....I "pity the fools" who get suckered by Sony hype (not talking to you now Spxero ;-) How sad it is when Sony dictates what should and shouldn't be included on a system and people nod their heads like lapdogs while chanting 'yes Ken, we agree'. I'll take Xbox 360 and choice. But I digress. lol

I have mine pre-ordered at EB Games just because I want to get it @ midnight (yea, I'm impatient like that). BUT, everyone is very true in saying that places like Sears and the like are great for people's gaming needs. Sure, they aren't going to have a midnight party, but they will have sufficient stock on launch day to satisfy demand for a bit while shoppers are going around buying Craftman tools and grills for their loved ones.

Contrary to post#19, when i went to Future Shop to pick up GTA: San Andreas, they were sold out, i literally walked across the street and picked it up at ebgames, where they had a shelfload of copies.

"I have a feeling that if the fanbois and everyone else held off for a few weeks, we would see a decent price drop that would benefit everyone."

Well, I'm one of those guys that bought all three current systems on launch day and I'm holding off on the Xbox 360. And I'm not egotistical enough to believe I'm unique in the world.

I'm sure other people who grew up this generation will fill in some of the gaps on launch day. But I have a feeling these forced bundles (and don't kid yourselves; MS sanctioned these bundles) are going to finally put a big crimp in the launch day madness. I mean even when I bought my PS2, Xbox and GameCube, I was able to buy all of them bare - both online and off (my Xbox I bought at Toys R Us, the PS2 I bought at Gamestop online). I wouldn't have bought any of them at the time if I'd had to pay more than $300 and then whatever else I felt like paying for games.

Not worth buying at least not at the beggining. Why spend so much money on something that you are likely to play perhaps one game for the first few months as the new games come out? Ah, well people don't think sometimes I guess.

I didn't like the xbox and it was a dissapointment to buy two at that. I didn't like the PS2 that much either nor do I enjoy the PSP (for the lack of games but hacks makes it betta) but the PS3 will most likely pwn the xbox 360 if what they say is true about the consosle. And as for the revolution... Heh, ATI claims it has better graphic power then xbox 360 and the fact that it is "revolutionary" well.. we will have to wait and see will we?

(cant we get factual information for these freakin consoles already!?!!?)

The extra 2 weeks is a kick in the * but as long as it's time well spent...

Glad I have a deposit down on mine. Going to the mall is going to suck but at least one will be waiting for me.

All of the items that come in the Premium $399 package will cost like $600 for P$3.

How much do you think Blu-Ray disks will cost?

Think for yourself...

Well, if what they said about the PS2 prelaunch was true I might believe what they're saying about the PS3. Don't expect the PS3 to "pwn" anything and just hope for some good games. That's all the really matters anyways.

Launching on Black Friday is a genious marketing ides for MS.

The will be film crews (of course, not matter what the day of ht elaunch is), but on black Friday the lines and numbe rof poepl waiting will be huge. No matter that 99% of them are not waiting for an Xbox360, but rather a discoutned TV, the MS PR people will have a field day showing the vast amounts of popel who were waiting for *their* console. oh and look when the PS3 is lauchned - look how many less peopel are outside the store. ;-)
