Oh no. I work in retail in the electronics dept for Target. Im speechless. Black Friday? I can see that going smoothly, not to mention set up. Our store opens at six that morning. We'll have to make signing and displays before that time and get all the product out. I have a bad feeling about this.

Wow....I don't know how many times I've said this. Now I know that others have already posted this 'little' fact. But since apparently some people with less than ideal attention spans do not read many posts, I feel the need to repeat it:

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE XBOX 360 AS PART OF A BUNDLE IN ORDER TO PRE-ORDER AND GET ON LAUNCH DAY!!! Yes, EB Games and Gamestop have many, many bundles, culminating in Gamestop's $2,000 Omega Bundle. But those are bundles put together by the store, not MS (Post #40, don't kid yourself....MS is not dictating to individual retailers how they deem fit to sell their own stock). That having been said, all you have to do is walk into any EB Games or Gamestop and you can pre-order your standalong Core or Premium Xbox 360 system. And come launch day, you can be having great fun in the next-generation of gaming.

Black Friday hasn't been the busiest shopping day of the year in a long time in terms of sales. It usually tops out around the 22nd or 23rd, or the last weekend before Christmas.

First, from what I understand, the HD in the 360 is NOT proprietary. It's a standard laptop-sized hard drive. It's also not extremely tiny. Laptop hard drives only come as large as 100gb currently, so a 20gb drive is actually pretty good.

Second, I will be buying a 360 AND a PS3, and maybe a Revolution when it comes out (IF it has good Metroid & Zelda games), so I'm not really partial to one company over another. That said, with my current knowledge of the next-gen hardware, I think I'll prefer the 360. My reasoning is rather simple. Yes, I play games on the consoles, but that's not the only thing I do with them. When the PS2 came out, a lot of people bought it for the DVD Playing ability. When the XBox came out, I bought one and modded it so I could use XBMC and watch TV shows and movies that I downloaded on my computer on my HDTV. I also like to be able to play GBA, NES, SNES, and Genesis games on it. That's a BIG plus for me. The Xbox games are fine and dandy, but honestly, most of my time with the Xbox is spent watching TV shows or movies through it, or playing old-school games that I no longer have the console for. My Xbox has a 160gb drive in it specifically for this purpose, and it serves that purpose fantastically. That's also why I rarely turn on the Gamecube (not since Metroid Prime 2 came out) or the PS2 (not since a couple weeks ago when I played Katamari Damacy).

Third, #55 is correct. You do NOT have to buy a bundle to get the console. Jeff is a dipshit for even thinking that MS "sanctioned" the bundles. OK, Jeff, if MS "santioned" them, why does EB have different bundles than Gamestop? IF MS sanctioned the bundles, do you really think they'd try to hide it? Why would they do that? It just makes them look even worse as a monopoly.

Fourth, we don't even KNOW that Nov. 25 is the launch date. Suddenly we all believe what IGN says? Funny, if I wrote a comment on a new product, like Creative's Sound Blaster X-Fi, and mentioned that IGN gave it a rave review, immediately people would be writing and saying that IGN was bought and paid for long ago. Why the hell should I believe what they report? By the way, if you READ THE ARTICLE, it says "as late as November 25", not "it will, absolutely, without a doubt, launch on November 25, 2005". Also note that NOBODY's heard from Microsoft on the matter yet. I'll believe whatever THEY say.

This is the worst idea ever. I don't care if the games aren't all ready, this is ridiculous. It would be better to wait for the following week then to do it on black friday. Its just a slap in the face to there fans to do this.

I have a friend who works in the Electronic's Dept. at my local Wal-Mart. The XBOX rep came by and said that the release date will be in early November. So going by that it shouldn't be the 25th. Who knows? I just know I want one!

The EB games rep were I have mine reserved heavyly hinted to the 15th of Nov. 4 years to the date of the original XBOX. He actually said he was told the week of the 14th. The 15th is on a Tuesday. Go figure.

To post number 38, why would it suck that your town isn't big on games? Wouldn't that be a plus for you since you don't have to wait in incredulously large lines? I would love the fact that I wouldn't have to punch out someone's grandma because she stole my Xbox 360 out of my cart or have to choke a little kid because he snatched the last copy of Halo 3 that I was about to grab... Lucky bastard. Some people just don't know what they got 'till they lose it...
