if they are so damn concerned why don't they take a dollar out of everyones monthly charge for the next few months... oh cus they're greedy f***heads who don't give a s***.

Its like the scumbags who pass the donation jar around at the movie theater, i don't mind helping a cause, but i'm not the rich corporation that owns the multiplex take it out your profits and my ticket price if you believe so strongly in it.

ugh, scumbags

I couldn't have said it better myself jimmy. I was thinking the same thing when I read that. Hell, if they suspended everyone's billing for one month, it would probably come close to the governments relief fund.

You can never ask for an evil corporation to give money from their own wallets, but I guess the gesture is nice, at least. I don't know, I was really trying to find some way to write this where Sony did not come off as a bad guy - because while it is next to nothing for a company to urge support, it is still better than nothing.

thank you, i give to the Red Cross annually, and I think charity is a personal choice, and an honorable one at that.

It just bothers me when huge corporate entities that are already makeing a profit off of me try to guilt me into donating money for a cause. It just erages me, they make an absolute killing on Everquest and mmorpgs, its a steady flow of profit that is gonna be there next month, 6 months from now, a year from now. Why not offer the option of having one dollar or even only 50 cents of every sub donated to the red cross rather than sony's coffers.

The reason they don't take it out of the monthly / yearly fee is BECAUSE those fees all go somewhere. They don't just take $14 and put it in their own pockets. They also go towards servers, updates, download hosting, site revenues, etc. So do not bitch at sony and say they are selfish

That's right guys, didn't you know Sony ran Everquest as a charity service? You crazy-headed crazyheads going and thinking Sony makes a profit, so crazy.

7. Its good to know sony runs everquest as a non-profit. Maybe I can get a job as a grant writer for them. I hope those tax ememptions and donation drives are working well for them.

No. I did not say that. If you read thoroughly, they do make a profit. But I was saying how not all the money goes to Sony. Please, do not mix up what I say and try to make a half-assed comment about it.

All I know is that Bungie is supporting Katrina greatly.

"Seriously. Stop reading for a minute, get a credit card, go to the website and buy the T-Shirt. It's $19.99 and about $15 of that will go directly to the Hurricane Relief effort, through the American Red Cross. Not a penny profit will be made and every cent of cash will go where it's needed."

As much as I love Blizzard and all of their games, this is a bit disappointing, as it is just a link to the site from their site. Atleast bungie is selling shirts for help...

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the individuals and families affected by Hurricane Katrina. We encourage everyone to assist the federal, state, and local organizations doing vital work on the ground by making a donation to the relief efforts. The Department of Homeland Security has asked that donations be made in the form of financial contributions, rather than supplies, which are difficult to get into the affected areas at this time. If you would like to make a donation to the relief efforts, please contact the American Red Cross: www.redcross.org; 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-4357-669).

BTW here is a link to the buying of a shirt from Bungie:

I am thinking about picking one up. Not only because its as a canadian highschool student too, but I like the shirt.

Odd. I saw the bungie thing yesterday, but it seems Gamespot has made a headline about it just 10-15 minutes after I made the post.

The company I work for is asking for donations AND donating $100,000 of their own. Not all corporations are heartless and greedy.
