Bungie is not the only company coming to the aid of the victims
of Hurricane Katrina. The storm and the events following cannot be described in words, save for maybe devastation,
anarchy, and tragedy. Sony Online is
asking its
EverQuest II players (or anyone, for that matter) to donate what they can in funds to the
American Red
Cross so that aid can be given to those who need it. Either follow the link above or type in /donate while you are
playing the game. Sony has also promised to suspend "billing until such time as they are able to play again. In
addition, any items or structures in any of our games, which decay over time, will be preserved until the user's next
login." Which is a very nice gesture, although I would guess that a fantasy online game is the last thought on their
minds right now.
If you have a chance, you should consider donating a little, too. Just a little bit – you can hold out on that Xbox
game you have saved up for just a little bit longer. Are any other MMORPG's (or game companies, in general) making an
effort to help Katrina? Let us know.
