I had the same prob, but then i found a page that tells you how to fool their serial checks;

"Many people are having difficulty in registering their Japanese imported PSP on Sony's official PSP site, YourPSP.com.

After speaking to their customer services department, i get the impression they really don't like people importing PSPs (despite having no choice thanks to the poor availability here in the UK). They said that those with an imported PSP were unable to register on the UK site (and recieve the PSP Pack).

But, we found a way...

- Visit YourPSP.com

- Sign up in the top right hand corner

- Fill in all your details

- When asked for your serial number, if you enter your Jap serial number (Starting with SJ or FJ), it will inform you that you cannot register it. Instead, replace the first 2 letters with SB.

- Even though your Jap model number will be PSP-1000, change it to PSP-1003

This should allow you to fully register your PSP and recieve the pack."

This works!!
