The Portable Dreamcast
So this isn't exactly new (we must have missed it when it came out back in January), but if you haven't taken sides in the battle between the PSP and DS already then check out this conversion of a Dreamcast into a portable gaming console. This is the latest mod from the owner of portablesystems.net, Dave. He's already created portable versions of the Jaguar and the original Playstation and is currently working on Gamecube, N64 and NES 8bit variants. Naturally you'd assume that none of these systems are or ever will be for sale. But there you're wrong, because they are. They're not exactly priced competitively with the DS or even the PSP, but they do include a 5" LCD screen as well as battery powered portability. Orders are on a first-come first-serve basis and will take around 2 weeks to ship once Dave has finished your hand-made portable console. Awesome work Dave, now about that Xbox version; What do you mean 9lbs isn't portable?!
[Thanks, Drew]

A portable Gamecube would rock.
Imagine playing Resident Evil 4 at work or while you're on a plane.

I'm moving out of my Apartment and I found all my dreamcast in storage and still in-tact. I fired it up and it works like a charm. I love this console. The best and most underrated console ever! And "Skies of Arcadia" is the best RPG EVER!

I completly agree with #9.

It's possible to do much better than that. Renasas, the spin-off off Hitachi's processor business, offers a 'Dreamcast on a chip' that puts about 80% of the Dreamcast on a single part with added video playback functionality. I've yet to hear of any products using this part but the potential for a portable video and game player if pretty cool.

I wonder how much that portable gamecube is. Although it does look a little "crapish". Really wished Ninty would just make one to please the fans, and people who want PGC
Segata San @ Dec 18th 2005 9:41PM
BLASPHEMOUS!!! A Dreamcast with a PS type D-pad?! !
Metalghosts @ Dec 18th 2005 9:41PM
If not for the cost, I would totally be putting in my order for this portable Dreamcast ASAP! I agree with most here, I love my Dreamcast (and, by the way, I kinda' agree with Cubbiechris on post #9...not sure if it's the best RPG ever, but I certainly love my Skies of Arcadia!)!
The only reason why I'm not going to get the portable dreamcast is that I have no problem firing up my home console when I want some Dreamcast lovin'!. LOL

How much RAM will have this gadget? How much will it cost?
