250 Sony PSP's stolen en route to Limerick
Some people just cannot get enough of Sony
products. That, or they know how much those lightweight golden tickets can sell for. The
Limerick Post is reporting that,
with "one courier carrying the games to Limerick was bound, gagged and locked in the back of his van," hijackers looted
250 Sony PSP's, valued at over 100,000 euros. With all this European launch craziness, it is not too terribly shocking,
but it does go to show you how popular the PSP can be.

There once were some thieves from limerick,
Who hijacked a van just for kicks.
They opened the back,
And filled up their sacks,
With shiny but useless handheld bricks.

With all the functions Sony put into the PSP I wouldn't be suprised if the PSP arrested the criminals, brang them to justice, saved a fat lady and her cat from a buring building and drove back to Limerick. All in a days work for SUPER PSP!!!!

Yeah, i know the three times Gamestop was robbed at my friends stores, they take the money from the register and the PSPs. Then this... And hearing about all the PSP theft in NY, makes me wonder how many people actually own a legal PSP. =P
Also I wonder if they add these 250 to their total PSPs sold count =P

Sony doesn't do sold counts anyway... it's probably already been added to the number of PSPs shipped...
Christopher7xii @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
Thats what I was refering to... I'm sure they have a losses count too though, for broken systems and exchanges and stuff.

ACTIVATE SNARK!
Maybe the thieves were terrorists who wanted to use the PSPs to launch missiles. Heh.
Anyone remember that ridiculous hype story Sony had before the PS2 launch that stated Saddam wanted a ton of them to launch nuclear missiles? Weapons of mass destruction indeed. I suppose, they could always throw them at people? Actually, I would want to see some crazed fundamentalist running through the subways of London, throwing handheld units at people. I could see it now...
Sky News: "Describe what you saw."
Panicked Witness: "It wer' blody arwful! 'e was just tossin' 'em.. this lady aside me took three Wonder Swans to the chest! Three! Me best.. best mate.. didn't see the Atari Lynx.. and.. 'e's been S.T.U.N. Runner'ed, 'e 'as!"
Sky News: "Reports of a Gizmondo bouncing off pets have confirmed peoples worst suspicions: Someone actually bought a Gizmondo. Lucky, the Game Boy Micro with its sharp metal body has not be released yet. Now we have another witness."
Witness 2: "This is somehow all America's fault! My sister got beaned by a Neo Geo Pocket Color and a Pokemon Mini. I was almost hit with a PSP, but its fragile body evaporated before impact."
Sky News: "The impact this will have on oil prices -despite having no relation to oil prices whatsoever- has not been determined."
END SNARK.
Sorry. I had to take advantage of this topic. That just popped into my terribly deranged mind and amused me.
