There's no shortage of moaning about sequels and about how innovative games just aren't made
anymore. It's all poppycock. If gamers want innovative games, they need only look to (and support) the
Independent Games Festival, where the independent developers are recognized and rewarded.
The deadline for submission for the seven major awards is just over 24 hours away. If that's a surprise to you, forget it, you're not in the running. But modders and students have until October 10th and November 15th respectively to whip their games into shape for submission.
Those of us who simply play games will just have to tide ourselves over with the winners of the 2005 IGF. If you've never played Independent Game of the Year Gish or Audience Award N, then stop reading immediately and check them out.
