Well, it looks like
our Street Fighter 4 rumor didn't quite pan out
last week. (Er, a fantasy version of Dynasty
Warriors from the makers of Street Fighter, anyone?) While we continue to wait for a proper sequel,
we can at least comment with confidence on the pending U.S. release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper (uh,
working title) for the PSP in November. The Japanese site for Alpha/Zero 3 just went live a few days ago, even
if all you get are a few widescreen screenshots superimposed on a PSP and the collage of Ryu, Ken, and Ingrid that you
see here.
Yeah, Ingrid… the new star of Capcom's last
two lackluster (or not even
released) fighting games. A good sign, we're sure. At least you'll be able to play on your portable with Yun, Maki, and
Eagle, the characters added to the GameBoy Advance version of SFA3. Now wireless is good, but the real/naive
hope is that they'll incorporate a lag-free infrastructure mode to versus gameplay. Can we count on Capcom this time? I
guess I shouldn't hold my breath.
