World of Warcraft expansion to be revealed at BlizzCon
Yesterday on the World of Warcraft forums, "Blizzard Poster"
Drake posted volume 2 of the World of Warcraft Battleplan – which, essentially, updates players with what is going on
in WoW. A lot of updates are expected to happen soon, including four green dragons for world raids and a
celebration for Halloween ("we haven't given the holiday a title yet, but players will definitely find a number of
great things in store"). Of course the big news, though it was pretty much
known already, is that the new World of Warcraft expansion
is to be revealed at the upcoming BlizzCon: "attendees will be able to view the
work that is going into the project and hear some of the eagerly awaited details."
For those who cannot attend, Drake suggests that some game magazines will also have information around the time of
BlizzCon. Of course, since Joystiq's own Vladimir Cole will be at the event, we will give you all the details the
moment they are announced.

Expansion pack? What's the purpose of that $15 a month you pay for the game?
Goob @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
My thoughts exactly, #1. I play this and people are clammoring to pay for an expansion, while I'm just screaming at them "but we're PAYING already, why do you want to pay MORE for content, they release stuff all the time, stop asking them to take MORE money". Etc. Granted, an expansion pack is probaly more than the occasianl new dungeon. I'll probaly stop playing when this hits, I don't feel like dealing with it anymore.

Is this the unnanounced project? I hope not or I will be madly disapointed.
Cam @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
all online RPGs have expantion packs that you have to pay for. IF you want the added content from those you can pay... if not GG. the expansions are in a sense a few patches all at once with BIG changes in game play. its worth it imo.
Tayman @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
I wonder how long it will take them to release the expansion pack? Too bad the expansions won't be free like Lineage 2.

When the rumor first came out that Blizzard was working on an expansion, they claimed that it was not true because they were too busy fixing and finishing stuff with the original. Well, besides Battlegrounds, nothing else got finished and hardly anything was fixed. With all the money they were making, people started to wonder what they were actually doing if anything. Now we know, they lied about the expansion and thats why they haven't gotten around to fixing or finishing anything more.
Holgual @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
Dear Blackcloud
Crawl out from under the rock you live under. First of all there was and is very little to "fix" in WoW. Compared to the other MMORPGs I have played (EQ, AC, EQ2) the amount of severe game balance bugs, broken encounters, broken quests and geometry flaws are very few and far between. And the content patches that have come out every couple months are better than the forementioned games attempts at updates. Now the arguement about expansion and paying for it is valid. I will buy this if I am still playing WoW, and for now I think I will be.
Doug @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
Wow! The post by Holgual is WAY off! World of Warcraft is VERY buggy! Getting better...but still very buggy. Far buggier than EQ2 (mind you they had EQ to iron everything out). Don't get me wrong, I like gameplay in Warcraft better right now, but it IS buggy. Content being added in EQ(2) is FAR more substantial too. All they really do in Warcraft is tweak here and there (except for BG). So I guess it is YOU that must emerge from under 'a rock'.
Glenn Dodds @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
Doug, it isn't VERY buggy. Yes, there are a FEW bugs, but not enough noticeable ones, and, there sure as hell are pretty funny (some of them, at least). Few and far between is exactly right. I have a T1/LAN line. A slow connection (which you might call 'lag') might be to blame for most of your problems, Doug. -nudges-

*sigh*
IF YOU DONT LIKE IT DONT PLAY IT. IF YOU THINK YOU PAY TOO MUCH DONT PLAY IT!!! MAN!! Dont read the posts why are you so far up World of Warcraft's butt if you are just going to bitch about it. I dont stop to read about EQ or EQ2 posts. Whhyyyy? Because I didnt care for it. So I moved on. FFXI, I felt was too expensive sooo I dont play it. I dont check all the blogs and article posts to see if there is something going on about it so I can bitch about it. WTF people. As previously posted every MMORPG has expansions (SWG had like what four!!) World of Warcraft is not perfect but its a great game. If you dont like it or think you can do better create your own game. Lets see how awesome your coding skills are. And then when your MMORPG finally has more subscribers than WoW. THEN by all mean talk all the crap you want about the game. Until then quit yer complaining. It pisses me off when I go to read some interesting posts by some peeps to have it interupted by haters who have nothing better to do then complain. At least come up with constructed criticism. Sorry everyone else, I'll get off my soapbox. Cant wait for the expansion. Anyone think the pics floating around are real??
Silverblade @ Dec 18th 2005 10:08PM
SPINNINNZEN's post might have been somewhat strong, but it makes a point. It is really silly for people with 60 lvl chars to whine about how bad WoW is (and I've seen this all too often). No, it is not perfect but for a game of its size it's damn good. People have to think in perspective. When you ride a bicycle running over a cat is a problem. When you drive a truck, said cat will not even be noticed because you have much more to worry about.
