Has it really been over four years since we have seen a true Final
Fantasy sequel? Final Fantasy X was released in the summer of 2001, and since then Square/Square-Enix has been light on
giving the traditional RPG game that it popularized. Final Fantasy XII, unlike its MMORPG predecessor, is set to change
that. With a release date of March, fans are eager to learn every minute detail about the game. Cue 1up, who has
received some new information regarding the battle system of the game.
Factions will play a big part of the game. When battling, you can "chain" system. The more consecutive kills from the
same race will yield rare items (but the "chain" is broken if you kill a creature from another race), which is sure to
incite characters to massacre entire villages (if that is possible).
Then again, you will not be the only one with the same idea. Unlike previous Final Fantasy games, and possibly
inspired somewhat by Player vs. Player scenarios, the upcoming FFXII will feature enemy races, complete with their own
set of classes, who will fight each other right before your eyes. So, presumably, if you do not care about classes, you
might be able to hide while two groups face each other, and then clean up what is left over. Interesting
possibilities.
Final Fantasy XII will be released March 16 of next year in Japan, with the US release sometime afterwards.
