Contrary to popular belief, the hybrid UMD will not make
use of alternative energy to avoid depleting your PSP's battery. Instead, Sony's first foray into the game-movie UMD
experiment is merely a gimmick.
How do you sell the portable version of a movie that bombed at the box office? Simple, package in an abridged version of a best-selling game, like Wipeout Pure. That's right, the first three levels of Wipeout Pure and a new "Stealth" track featuring the advanced fighter jet from the aforementioned box office bomb, Stealth, will be molded together to form Wipeout Pure: Stealth Edition. The game will be a bonus feature in the UMD version of Stealth, which will also include the 2.0 firmware upgrade. Oh, and don't expect to be walking away with this little number for under $20, sorry, the hybrid UMD will retail for $39.95.
