Celebrate Mario's birthday in style
Apparently, Mario turns 20 today. We're not sure where this date comes
from—the original release date of Super Mario Bros. (Famicon) in Japan? At any rate, a bunch of developers
have designed t-shirts commemorating the special occasion. But at nearly $35 a pop (3800 yen), these are strictly for
the diehard crowd.
[Thanks, Timmy]

A Sonic tshirt promoting Mario...this is madness,it should never be like this.2 companies at each other back in the day now promoting one another, what has come to this world.
So when is Mario going to get old enough that he dies and we won't have to see Mario ____ Sequel number 23592892?
No,I just kid,i'd much rather see the Zelda series buried :)
smarterray @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM

CapAmerica @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM

I still want to see a Mario & Sonic crossover game.

You want to see Zelda die! WTF is wrong with you?
Rhine @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Sega and Nintendo have been buddies recently since the dreamcast went under so i dont see anything wrong with it old differences should be put in the past and plus i wanna see some sega games on the downlaod service :D

Does anyone know how I can get this shirt? I can't read Japanese :(
BlackYoshi @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Heh at the guy who wants Mario and Zelda to die, don't be a playa hater. The thing that needs to die is GTA and all its clones. Yeah, it was cool the first time, and then everyone started copying it and I don't feel the sequels added a whole lot. The missions are still boring and mind-numbing, and the actual shooter elements like aiming, have always been pretty bad. But I digress. Neat shirts though.

God man you are saying it all wrong. Its:
Genesis Does! You can't do this on Nintendo.... Genesis Does!
steve @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
lol, great shirt. A real "engrish" moment - "20th Happy Mario!" :D
OTAM @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
BlackYoshi,I do agree with your comments. GTA should be done already and all of it's little spins offs like True Crime and such.
And with that said get rid of shitty games promoting "Gangsta" culture like Def Jam and 50 Cent garbage.
Ombre @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
That Papuwa one is very creepy. XD I want it!
Kristian @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Happy 20th Mario!
I would buy a T-shirt, but they're too damned expensive for a T-shirt.

Haven't you heard of such thing as respect between rivals?
b @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
holy shit, you again OTAM, why can't you just go with your bullshit elsewhere... A reason there are so many Zelda sequels is that people want them, because they sell great and are great games.
Don't like them? As easy as not buying them, just don't think your opinion is the absolute truth. Now, go play Halo 5 for your beloved 360.
One question though, so you prefer "new games" (that don't have the name of any other game that came out in the last 20 years) that have very similar gameplay to today's actual gameplay, that could be dimmed as actually old games with different characters, as opposed to "old games" (like mario, zelda, metroid, etc.), that are actually much different in the way you played them, that they are in fact new games, but with the old (and cherished by most) characters?

That's strange, as Mario's first game, Donkey Kong, was released in 1981. (Mario Bros. in 1983, and Super Mario Bros. in 1985)

#16,See b,you have a very different way of looking at what I meant.
It's like this. Nintendo is like ketchup. Now ketchup is good, but not as a main meal to eat,and it stops tasting good once you eat it exclusivly for 20 years.
I've grown up playing Sega and Nintendo and I just want something more besides Mario Party 2352985,ANOTHER Zelda game, and the same goes for all the Nintendo franchises. I stopped gaming with Nintendo when the N64 was done because Sony had out the PS1 and then saw the Dreamcast,PS2,and Xbox later.
So I looked and said "Well,I can keep playing the same games i've been since a kid every console run or get into everything new" and that's what happened.
I also don't understand your "Halo 5" comment. It doesnt matter what game it in,once it gets enough games pumped out in the series they get extremely tiresome and boring. I won't even look at San Andreas because I think that everything that could have been done with GTA already has and the series has nowhere to go,same goes for Silent Hill, amazing series but part 4 was just stupid and they are stretching the series beyond it's limits.
I don't want to play Mario Kart because I did so with my SNES and my N64,so why am I going to use my Gamecube and do the same thing ANOTHER generation around when I can play new stuff on the PS2 and Xbox?If you enjoy the Nintendo games go and play them, more power to you,but it gets extremely irritating seeing ANOTHER Zelda and ANOTHER Mario game.
I mean I honestly hope they do something more with the Revolution besides put out a Mario launch title where you run around finding stars,Starfox and Zelda.Enough is enough already Nintendo, please.
yjs @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
If you've actually payed attention to Nintendo's games since N64 you'll see that they may use the same franchises but the core gameplay has changed dramatically. Zelda became 3D and much more involving. Mario made the groundbreaking jump to 3D also; and of course games like Pikmin experiments with new concepts.
New stuff on the Xbox and PS2? I hope you are not joking; save for a few quirky games on the two consoles it's pretty much all just all generic soapie RPGs, blood-guts shooters and rice rocket racers. Of course, I'm generalising but that's the state of gaming as of now. And from what I've seen of next-gen, it's not changing and I doubt Nintendo will be able to do anything about it due to their very limited influence in the games market right now.

#17. In the original Donkey Kong, Mario was known only as Jump Man. So I guess you could argue that he wasn't born yet. You got me on that Mario Bros. date though.
Scott @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
So does the $35 price tag include a mark-up for the poor syntax?
