Who says Mortal Kombat hurt gen-X kids? Evan Rosenfield of George Mason University found, after a survey of 400
elementary school students, Rosenfield discovered that children who played games involving "punching and kicking" were
more inclined to break up fights than otherwise. Rosenfield believes game developers should specify what type of
violence – be it fist fighting, gunplay, or the act of bodily dismemberment – is in their games, and should be listed
alongside the ratings.
No mention on whether or not the kids broke up the fights because they felt it was the thing to do or because they
were jealous that they had not been in the scuffle themselves.
