According to
1UP, "tons" of next-generation third-party titles have either
been newly announced or reconfirmed for the PS3 and Xbox 360, thanks to additional information contained in
the golden pages of Famitsu.
The list of coming releases is littered with niche titles we'll likely never see in America—such as Success's Japanese
trio of Sheep Village(?), probably for the PS3, as well as a "Sea Action Game" and an untitled mahjong game
for the 360—but the most important title for most PS3 watchers will be Super Robot Wars/Taisen, which will
also be coming to the 360 (but announced way back at the Xbox
Summit in July; the cover to an earlier PS2 version is depicted
here). Can Bandai/Banpresto can finally overcome
those crazy international licensing limitations and (legally) bring the king of robot/mech crossovers to the States?
Only time (and worldwide licensing-rights negotiations) can tell.
Other titles of note include the fighting game Psychic Force, Way of the Samurai 3, and the
horce-racing sim Derby Stallion for the PS3, and retail-sim The Convenience Store X, Way of the
Samurai Online, and Bomberman: Act Zero for the 360. Just don't expect any of these titles before the end
of the year: most have been pegged for 2006 or 2007. Ah well, we'll have to wait until we (or those of us who love to
import) get our hands on "unusual versus shooter" Senkou no Ronde.
