I really want to see this, but I hate Tommy Tallarico. It's not coming to my city anyways, but I heard it's pretty awesome, a buddy of mine went.
Casey @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I agree robotplague.
This sounds awesome, but knowing that Tommy Tallarico is involved makes me want to hate this whole thing. Plus these guys are puting a lot of their own music in there.
I'd much rather see the Dear Friends concerts.
JJ @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I'd agree with the basic leanings, but I just can't resist the best parts of this, loving video game music as much as I do, and the theatre is like two blocks away from my apartment in the C-Bus. SKRRRRRRT! Sign me up. :)
Rocketboy @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Japanese composer, Yoko Kanno did the same thing a while ago. They should replace Tommy Tallarico with her, or really, anyone with a pulse.
Nathan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Don't not see the show because of TT. I saw the debut concert in LA, and he was not his Judgement Day/Electric Playground self (he was actually mature). The concert is great. Go see it.
OTAM @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
My cousin edits video for the WB and met Tommy Tallarico before and said he was the biggest douchebag ever.
ledorky @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Meh. TT is involved. I wanna watch Dear Friends and not this crap.
WarcraftWorld @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I wouldn't mind checking this out. It would be nice if they added all the Squaresoft music as well.
jay @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
ok. no Turrican music? what sort of video game concert is this?! not saying the aforementioned games have bad music but Turrican changed the world with Chris Huelsbecks groundbreaking soundtrack.
SlipstreamBRO @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Wasn't this concert on the road last month?? I moved to Florida the day it was in Atlanta (August 11th, if I'm not mistaken). Why is this news now?
Spike's Girl @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Geez, some of you guys are nuts. Video Games Live is great, especially with TT's involvement. Nathan's right; don't not see it because of Tommy, and he definitely is mature and professional about it. Oh and OTAM? Take the advice of the Black Eyed Peas and "Don't lie"!
JohnnyCage05 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Spike's Girl and Nathan are right. And what's Dear Friends anyway? This is bullcrap.
Tagnizkur @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Are you people deaf? Is that why you put down TT. As to Tommy being a bad guy... what are you freaking morons.... Gasey, Domer, or Manson.. they are bad guys and douche bags. Tommy is a person who is willing to meet and greet fans.. talk with you.. hell even call you on your cell to just chat. So to be a JAG and throw sorn at the man shows me that you know nothing of him, or his music. If you had any sense of hearing you would not say his stuff sucks... GROW UP... if you like music, you will like this...
Fred Ozzel @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Regardless of your feelings about Tommy, the show is very good with selections from many classic titles (yes even some squaresoft stuff too). The rights to Turrican were probably a problem, not every great game's music was included in this event (after all there's lots of great games with good tracks). Besides, there's always sequel events and no doubt Turrican and other classics may be included if the First event is a big enough success to encourage the licence holder to ease any impediments.
Tommy's also an actor on TV, he's dedicated to his profession and outspoken on his feelings about the quality he feels should be expected from the industry. He may sometimes express that in an over the top way, but that's mainly to stir people up for entertainment purposes. At heart, he loves games and gaming as much as anyone else, and wants everyone to have the best experience possible (which is why he trashes games so hard).
Either way, you should give this a try, Squaresoft, Nintendo, Konami, Capcom, Namco I think too, all sorts of great music from all kinds of great composers. Yea some of Tommy's stuff is in there too, but there's a really nice selection - you shouldn't let any misgivings you might have distract you from a really enjoyable show At a reasonable price
And to be honest re Tommy, he gets bashed a lot, for his onscreen performance, but he's a different personality off camera, and a gamer first and foremost. He loves games as much as any of the rest of us do, and a lot of us have said similar things about different games at various points ourselves. So he didn't like a game you liked, so what - its a free country, people can disagree as much as they like. He's a twitch gamer at heart, and that's in part why slower games aren't as appealing to him.
Don't let a personal dislike taint the entire show :( It's reasonably priced and its different and it's got some really nice songs. I really wish it was actually coming to my city :|
Akaymay @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
My god, what are some of these people thinking! Tommy is a great guy, he likes all of his fans, he will only be mean if you're a friggin' Tommyknocker. Seriously, Grow up... You guys have some serious problems you need to take care of...
NovemberMusicProductions @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Guys, this is retarded.
This is a huge and wonderful event taking place in our industry, and I highly suggest you take part by going.
Go to the meet and greet as well. I'm sure all your missconceptions about Tommy will be erased.
Tommy is a good guy, with a good heart. I'm sorry that many of you have never met him, and do not know what he is truly all about.
Ryan211 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
All you Tommy knockers can go straight to hell. How can you call Tommy all these names when you dont even know him. Ive spoke to Tommy a bit online and he is a really awesome guy that cares about his fans and is just awesome. Tommy knockers you can all burn in hell.
EDGECRUSHER78 @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
You Tommy knockers amuse me. Your ignorance is astounding,I mean you give a guy you don't know so much crap because he gave a Pokemon game a bad review.
Seriously, you idiots need to grow up.
SlipstreamBRO @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I think he just likes specific types of games, which I can relate to. I don't really care about his game pref's. I just want to hear some friggin' Mario, Metroid, MasterChief, & a multitude of other game's music played by a symphonic orchestra. I'm drooling to hear it as a matter of fact.
& the part that burns me is that I moved to FL for school (Full Sail) so I could go into the Digital Arts. & damned if Video Games Live has 0 (that's a zero) FL concerts on schedule. What do we have to do to get them to come here???
SuicideRUN @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Not wanting to go to this because you don't like Tommy Tallarico is stupid. That's like not going to a concert where music you like is being preforming because there's a member in one of the band playing that you dislike.
I can see it now. "Wanna go to Oz-fest, all your favorite bands are playing there?" "No way! I heard Lars Olrich is gonna be there and I hate that guy on purely personal reasons, so count me out."
Themo @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
After a good year and a half of getting to know the guy, I can safely say that Tommy is a very cool, honest, and all-around great guy. I gain nothing by saying that so you know it's the truth. I think that if more people gave Tommy a chance with an open mind, there would be major changes in attitude for sure.
Musaeus Caseus @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
We are so lucky that people like Tommy are working for the gaming industry. This concert puts video game music on the board like it never has been before. The composers of great music are finally getting their rightfully deserved credit. Tommy is a great and dedicated man, and the concert itself is an amazing event. Everyone who has ears should go.
Videogameangel @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I want to go a Video Games Live show very badly.I have heard that it's a great concert.
I have been on Tommy's forum for a while now and I have talked with him alot on the forum. He's a very nice guy who cares about his fans.If some people would have a open mind and give Tommy a chance. They would see that Tommy is a very good person.
Mutter @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
You guys are all douchebags. Tommy has never met WB, idiots. I swear, any Tommy-knocker out there will get a fist full of my knuckles in there face.
ROCK ON T.T!
Boozer @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Tommy's Knockers. Would that be sick, or what?
Mature Adult @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Hey *IDIOTS*. Let's focus on the CONCERT here, and not "T.T" as you so affectionately refer to him as. Also, "Tommyknockers" is-how to phrase this politely-a ridiculous pet name.
I'm going myself to this show in Toronto.. if, somehow, anyone will be attending it there as well, drop me a line, we can grab beers or chat about how awesome the show was!

William Harris @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
You people haven't met Tommy have you? He's a guy that you can hang with or even look up to for advice. If you guys ever have a concert, Id never even look at the commercials, ads, trailers, even the music just for even insulting him. And what is a Dear Friends concert anyway? You people should even talk about him that way because if you do, your are just making a name for yourselves. Tommy Knockers.
Tedakin @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Tommy's a really cool guy. Why the hate, y'all? Did he give your favorite shitty game a bad review? Awe...
