Why indie? Determinance music creator speaks out
Paul Taylor (aka nervous_testpilot) has
posted a thoughtful insider's look at the experience of developing the sound and music for the forthcoming indie title,
Determinance. The game is being billed as "the first
ever true swordfighting game," giving players total control over their virtual swords. Taylor talks about his reasons
for taking on the music/sound task, particularly why he chose to work in the "indie" sector. Determinance will
be released next Tuesday, September 20th.

First ever true swordfighting game? I dunno...
Die By the Sword was fairly involved. I still remember this time when I was watching my buddy play, he was fighting like a Warthog Man (or something). He parried a blow but it came down on the back of his calf and cut his lower leg off so he was hopping around this lava-pit fighting this guy with one leg cursing to the heavens. The controls were really, really complex though and very counterintuitive. I've always wondered when a more superior game would come out as it is very interesting to play with such a delicate balance and amount of control. Probably like Bushido Blade on steroids? Who knows.
