because most idiots haven't realized the potential of this controller, let alone the fact that they haven't read that there WILL be a classic-style controller as an attachment. They've all prejudiced the controller just by looking at it.
And I'm not gonna lie, I freaked out when I first saw it and I thought "How the fuck am I gonna play third party (if any) titles or ported titles?", but then I read the answer that most haven't taken the time to read because they are in shock, no wonder joystiq said something about "revolution controller hangover", and I indeed had a hangover (both metaphorically thanks to this, and literally because I was drunk... (Mexican independence day:))).
The answer to the 3rd party games and ports is that there WILL be a classic-style controller attachment, so nobody needs to worry or say it's shit because it's "too different", because you will still be able to play with a typical controller. And there will be many attachments, both by nintendo, third parties like gameshark, and third party game companies. So everyone needs to shut the fuck up and read all about it instead of freaking out.

The controller is interesting, that's for sure. The only thing that scares me is that the demo videos concentrate on uses of the controller that make you act like a total idiot while playing games. Hopefully a bulk of the games use more "standard" control schemes and don't have you waving the thing around like a psycho while sitting on your couch.
It'll be a nightmare if every game turns into a DDR, Konga, Samba style of "gyrate around like a fool in front of your TV" control mechanic. Although game designer seem to be having a lot of fun saying "I bet I could get people to do..."

I LOVE IT. cant wait for some metroid prime 3 action. From what I understand, in FPS the right hand remote will control aim and fire, left hand controls movement. Plus, the remote can be turned sideways to become a NES controller woot woot.

Some people are just too serious about what other people think of them.

You know, the controller kind of reminds me of the old COLECO, http://www.joystickwidow.com/ngallery/albums/4/7.aspx, and INTELLIVISION, http://www.joystickwidow.com/ngallery/albums/4/8.aspx, controllers.
"rebuilt the controller" my arse!
Pretty Obvious @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
The controller looks like a piece of shit. Anybody with half a brain can figure that out. Its a goddamn TV remote. So whats the answer to third party games? Wait another attachment???? No wait flip the controller on its side!
I'll admit though Nintendo does have some good ideas with the tilt, gyroscopic controller. However who didnt see this coming?? This is not Revolutionary. Ive been using a gyroscopic mouse on my PC for quite awhile now, playing games in this fashion is nothing more than a gimmick.
Next gen after this we wil def see Microsoft and Sony using this tech in its controllers, cause just like Nintendo in the past they come out with something new first, next gen the competiters do the same thing only better. Having a normal looking controller with this stuff built in would have been smart. But were talking about Nintendo here....

hey does anyone know if the controller is using infrared or RF? After seeing all those pictures, the idea of always having to point it towards the screen makes my arm hurt.
Matthew @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Nintendo's done it. That's all I can say. Most people don't see the clear picture right now, just like with the DS, but you'll eventually see it. There is no way that Nintendo designed this controller without a clear vision. Miyamoto demonstrated some "concept demo's" too a select few of the press. You know, IGN, GameSpot, and the like. Most of their responses was that when they tried these demo's, "you just got it." And the possibilities started flooding in. They're excited, I'm excited. People will get excited. I feel like most people that are commenting on the controller are judging it by it's cover. Which, by the way, I happen to like. Seriously. :)

#7, Nintendo said it was existing technology never implemented for the home console.
What the fuck did you expect, a teleporter?
Bite me, asshole.
You continue to use a gimmick for your PC, eh?
Seriously, bite me.

it looks infared but even infared remotes don't have to be pointed at the screen. the beam bounces :-)
Johan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
The part which looks infrared is probably for the onscreen sensors which tell where you point it, if you don't use that functionallity but only buttons, d-pads, analog, gyros it's probably rf.
illustrious_energy @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
#7 maybe that's why you can't see the contollers true potential...because you only have half a brain ROFL
(Not Impressed) Dmitri @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
That is some good work. But I can't help but notice that (some) people do not like the controller. I may never understand why, so don't bother to try explaining it to me.
