Need for Speed: Most Wanted Black Edition announced
EA has announced that a special
Black Edition of
its upcoming Need for Speed: Most Wanted multiplatform release. It's nice to see some special-edition love
being given to the Xbox and PC in addition to the regular extras for Sony from EA. (The
Madden NFL 2005 Collector's
Edition was released exclusively for the PS2.) All editions of the game will arrive in November, and a version
for the Xbox 360 is planned for launch as well.
"The collector's edition… will feature exclusive cars, races and specially-tuned rides, as well as a bonus DVD with
behind the scenes footage of model/actress, Josie Maran, concept art, exclusive videos and much more."

*winces*
Could be seen as racist.
"What, coz we're black we get a different version? What, does it involve lock picking? More Hip-Hop? Stealing Cars!? Wait, this actually sounds good. How much did you say it was going for again?"
LMAO this is funny @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Special Edition? Is this suppose to cost more? Something that SHOULD be in the game in the first place? Anyway, I think EA has a way of holding back features just so they have a reason to release another version the next year. And Madden is their cash cow. Seems like NFSUnderground is too. I think that's the reason why Infinity Ward was formed. A bunch of guys who are in a company (EA) which limited their creativity to a point where they can not make a game that deserves "Game of the Year" honor. Instead, EA execs say, you just put a decent game out there, strip some features out, and add it in the next year so that people will buy it again. Amen.

Wow that is really lame. It's one thing to have a special edition that has non-game features, like a book or making-of, but charging for two different versions of the game??
woohoo! @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
is the OJ Simpson's Ford Bronco in this edition?
how about a confederate theme F-150? you can use this truck to chase down civil right workers.

Hmm, I didn't foresee the racial undertones to the latest Need for Speed collector's edition making such an impact, but let's try to avoid making tasteless jokes centered on race. Why EA decided to bet on Black (Wesley Snipes?) is anyone's guess, but I guess the makers of Twisted Metal went with the same dark/gritty idea for their PS2 game.

Why does it got to be black? Can I loot New Orleans in this version? Are all the cars black in this edition? There is a code for GTA SA where you can turn all of the cars black - maybe that is where the NFS creators got the idea for this. Or maybe they got the idea from watching all of the tele coverage of hurricane Katrina...

Wow people... I can 100% assure you that there are no racial undertones in the "black" edition. The "Black" edition is simply a color choice. You can pretty much equate just about any color to a racial comment. The answer to that problem is stop trying to see racial things where they dont really exist. The special edition has nothing to do with current events, history, anything....
It's just a video game.

Dude, we know, we're just jokin. (well, I am anyway)

No Pete, you are glib. You don't know. I have read the studies...
YoYo-Pete @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
I would love to see the study that shows how the black edition of this game is linked to anything racial more than the standard version of this game. That's all I'm saying.

man this new black edition is just like the first most wanted nothing has changed and i dont think that is right they charge extra for a game because it has a dvd in it that is bull.
