Ragnarok 2 Online, the sequel to the popular (in Asia anyway) massively multiplayer Ragnarok
Online, was given its debut at the Tokyo Game Show. The big news with this title is that the characters and the
environments are now fully 3D, whereas its predecessor featured two-dimensional characters on top of three-dimensional
backgrounds.
Some of the game's fans who know and love Ragnarok Online have expressed worry that the transition to 3D characters would destroy the manga-inspired look that they've grown to love. However, the behavior of at least one member of the gaming public that tried the game out at last week's Tokyo Game Show indicates that the transition to 3D characters will be widely embraced.
As this gamer demonstrated, a determined player can maneuver the camera in Ragnarok 2 so that he's looking up the skirt of his female characters. Ho hum, right? But wait, there's more! Not only can the camera be maneuvered into some pretty racy viewing angles, but it appears that the game makers themselves have taken efforts to carefully model what is seen there. All-important polygons were spent modeling characters' undergarments. This is why 3D was invented.
