Xbox 360 premium bundle w/PGR3: $479.99 from Costco
Costco is offering its own bundle for the Xbox 360 including the
premium edition of the hardware (that comes with a hard drive), Project Gotham Racing 3, another wireless
controller, and a Play & Charge Kit for $479.99 in stores and online. The only catch? You probably need a Costco
membership to order. There's also that pesky $23.98 shipping & handling fee, but it can be tricky to get around
that for ordering game hardware online.
[UPDATE: We've been told that you can still order from Costco without a membership, but that you'll be docked a 5%
surcharge if you do so. You'll save money, regardless, but quite a bit less—around $26 $16 or so
before taxes and shipping. Thanks, montee.... Sold
out… again!]
At any rate, everybody
loves
bundles, but only if you can actually save some money on
the things. With this 360 bundle from Costco, and you may actually get your moneys worth if you wanted those extras
anyway, as the wireless controller, Play & Charge Kit, and game (that is, PGR3)
retail for $50, $20, and $60
$50, respectively, for a total of $130 $120 above the standard $400 price for the console alone, which
is $26 $16 above Costcos price even with S&H factored in. Not a bad deal, so long as
PGR3 gets here by November. (You can afford another launch game to play in its place, right??) [Thanks for the
pricing correction, swoosh bnd!]
So, whos got a membership? Or, more importantly, who can you get whos already a member to buy a bundle on your
behalf? We cant wait for more and better deals to show up, so let us know if you find anything better (from a
reputable web site/store, of course).
[thanks, laserboyjc]

Sounds cool! They should have a bundle at Sam's Club pretty soon!
montee @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
even if you do not have a membership you can get it, however you will be charged a 5% surcharge for the purhase.
Dan Choi @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Ah, but a 5% surcharge would increase the package cost to almost exactly what you would've saved without a membership! Not that great of a deal without membership, but considering the savings to be had on S&H, it's not that bad that way, either. Thanks for the info, montee.
SurfMurph @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
It doesn't appear that you can have express shipping for this bundle, only Costco's "standard" shipping, which means you get it 7-10 days after it ships.
I don't want to wait that long.
swoosh bnd @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Note: The Xbox 360 game PGR3 will be $50 since it is first party. I ordered from them today and thankfully I am member so I get the regular price. I'll take the savings over the time it takes to get to me any day.

YAY!!!
oh wait.. i'm still saving up money to fix my car :-(((...
mailbozes are stupid. they don't have to be right there next to the road.
Aaron P. @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
There may be a problem with this, I've read several times that PGR3 won't make the 360's launch period. They should sell this bundle with Perfect Dark Zero instead.
Abhinav @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
So this is in store too, please tell me its in store too!?

OTAM @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Isnt Cosco like a knock-off of Sam's club?
I'm not bashing the store or anything,i've never even heard of it so it's hard for me to do so,i'm just asking what exactly this store is.
Jeremy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
TO ORDER FROM COSTCO.COM you DON'T need a MEMBERSHIP, it is the same price for members & non-members.
Dan Choi @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Actually, Jeremy, I went through the checkout process (up to the point where you enter a credit-card number), and it clearly showed that that 5% surcharge was being added since I didn't enter a membership ID number. Give it a try, and you'll see $24 being added to the original price if you didn't specify a membership. You are given the option to buy a membership with your online purchase, however.
MG @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Don't know if this matters to anyone, but it may not be a good deal. It does not state that it comes with the limited time, media remote, which is worth $30. I e-mailed them to see if they just forgot to mention it. Hope it does, then it would be a good deal. Also, I don't think I would get it either, being they don't ship things very fast.
murph @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
if i can pre-order/pick this up at the store, i'm all over this.
Dan Choi @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Well, wouldn'tcha know it: PGR3 is selling for $49.99 'cuz Microsoft Game Studios is publishing it. Thanks, swoosh bnd. I guess I had DOA4 on the brain or something. I'll update the post.
James @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
I'll just go pick those up at my local Costco or Sam Club or Walmart (all within 5 miles) when it's released. No point in ordering online.
Both Walmart and Sam's Club are less than a 1/4 mile away from me and the Walmart is also open 24 hrs. I can get the Xbox360 at midnight of the release date.
Slo-Mo-Shun @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
I'm surprised that so many of you haven't heard about Costco, it is THE place to buy electronics from where I live (Bay Area Cali). Besides being an extremely reputable company and not at all a Sam's Club knock-off. Costco also have an EXTREMELY generous return/exchange policy. Most electronics have almost an indefinate return policy, (except computers which has a 6 month return policy) provided you have your orginal packaging and recept. I returned a camera a year after it was purchased and still got full credit back, now that's customer service.
sdpads19 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
item is sold out. no longer posted on their website. guess we'll have to look elsewhere.
Bradley @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Actually "Slo-Mo-Shun "
I think its 5 months for pc's however I could be wrong.
Nick @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Slo-Mo-Shun is absolutely right. If you buy a 360 at costco, you can return it 3 years from now and get a full refund. As long as you keep the receipt and original packing. Just fold the box somewhere and store it under your mattress or something lol. Another thing is if you do order it from costo online, they will ship the item 10 days ahead of its release date so that it will be by your house on or before this date (I think its Nov 22). A friend of mine preordered Halo 2 and got it 3 days b4 it was in stores. They then reseted the stats that day. Best Buy has a playable 360 in its store already so I know costco will have theirs ready to ship b4 its released officially.
Salvistylz @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Has anyone gone to Costco to ask if it will in the store on launchday? I think i will get it at the store if they dont sell it online again...
Salvistylz @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
whats up swoosh
Pete @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Lol, that was fast. it was on their site for a couple of days. no it's gone.
Fishin for Deals @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
News Flash: I am one of the lucky demigod losers that pre-ordered the rediculously overpriced xbox 360 from costco's website....I just spoke to a microsoft representative about the inclusion of the bonus media controller, and he informed me that the remote is included with every PREMIUM xbox 360 package sold though the New Year, even if not stated by the vendor selling the product. The item on the costco website was the premium package, therefore, those who placed an order will be receiving the media remote in the boxed contents........whipppppppeeeee.....yahooooooo!

SOAD @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
YES! Last saturday I finally got the preorder I've been looking for since Joystiq announced it.....every since the announcement, the bundles vanish 15 minutes after release...but this time i was quick and got it!

Falkinator @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM

DItalianSalami @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Well I just got an email back from Costco and they won't ship the 360's out until Nov 21st to gurantee it doesnt' get to anyone's house before the 22nd. Just wondering where they ship it from
janie @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
Sam's Club has the best price at $449 and some change, becoming available at 7am on 11-22. each walmart and sam's only have between 15 and 20 360's available... no word on when more will arrive... good luck to all who are wishing to buy!
tony @ Dec 18th 2005 9:36PM
i ordered and got my 360 from Costco. All is fine except that somewhere along the line some opened the sealed box, took Project Gotham Racing out, and put Kameo in it's place, which doesn't make me happy since I was looking forward to playing PGR3. I have sent an email to Costco asking what happned but have not heard anything back.
