GameTap, Turner Broadcasting's foray into the
world of the gamer, offers an endless amount of downloadable games from the past – from as old as the Atari 2600 to as
young as the PlayStation and Dreamcast – as well as a series of videogame-themed TV shows. The program is set to be
released sometime in October for a monthly fee, but a few
selected online junkies may get their chance to try it earlier.
Go to the GameTap website and register your e-mail address, and GameTap may
select you to try the service early while they work out the kinks of the system. If that was not enough, they will also
give you a free month of service and a $5 discount for the remaining months of 2005 – which is not much, but if you are
excited/curious about the program, a free month is hard to pass up.
