From the looks of their most recent post, Team Xtender is nearing completion of their promising PSP2TV project—showing off the ability to display in both 4:3
and 16:9 aspect ratios. The PSP2TV will allow you to feed your PSP display into a TV; and it supports the use of a
PlayStation controller. The team has also announced that the final build will feature an S-video output option.
Unfortunately, further details are still unavailable on the Team Xtender website.
[Thanks, Anuj]
Team Xtender's PSP2TV nears completion?

That device will boost my thoughts on the PSP. Watching movies on that thing is a pain in the ass, and some of the games for the PSP (Like Dead to Rights or Death Jr) are best played on a bigger screen. Some of the psp games are too detailed to be enjoyed on a tiny handheld. Which is why I bought a DS. Still don't regret that even though the PSP will be Getting Katamari, Talkman and Loco Roco.

You got a DS because the PSP screen was too small? It has twice the resolution and you realistically only use 1 of the screens for DS games.

It being the PSP...
The PSP has twice the resolution and it's screen is bigger than the DS. You realistically only use one DS screen as visual display, the other is the controller.

I've had one of these contraptions for ages. It's called a Ps2!

No. I was saying that most of the PSP games are too detailed to be enjoyed on the size of the screen. While on the DS the games are not as detailed and can be enjoyed on a small screen. With the way the games are on the PSP it had me squinting to the point of eye strain. With that said my vision isn't 100% perfect, but playing the DS games have not caused me any eye strain after of hours of playing the same games.

How the hell does this thing work? This shows an interface plug on the bottom in that picture that plugs into the bottom of the PSP, but there is no inputs on the bottom of the PSP, the USB is up top. And how the heck are they gonna make the controller work without some internal rewiring? So will this require a case mod?

Awesome! Now I can watch DVD like movies and play PS2 ports at home!!! Uhh...wait a minute.

Uhh, Useful_Arts, the pics explain this all. It's a device that hooks into the USB and clamps the back of the PSP(for a good tight connection I'm assuming), then into the back of the clamp you plug in the PS2 controller and composite cables.
While I understand this, at the same time I would never buy it. I really have no problem playing my PSP games and UMD movies on my PSP... Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. While sometimes it would be nicer to hold a PS2 controller while playing(THPS2), I just bought a $7 piece of plastic that attaches to the back of the PSP to shape it like a dual shock controller. I'm guessing this device will go for $30-50 minimum.

The PSP will need a mod. You will have to crack open your PSP and connect to the video feed between the LCD and the mobo.
This is why they are offering a free faceplate, and will be soon offering custom faceplates.

I think its cool. I would get one but I don't wanna void my waranty (yet). It could be awsome for capturing video though.

geez .. a PStwo would be a cheaper option ..

The problem is that UMDs are DVD quality. Thanks to the Mpeg4 compression they have the same 720x480 resolution as DVDs (This has been confirmed by the CTO of the Sony Media division). The Picture is scaled down to fit the PSP screen. With this device the picture (after scaling) is being sent to the TV. As such you are loosing picture quality. With the pace at which UMDs are selling I don't see it taking long before a standalone UMD player hits the market, full 720x480 resolution and all.

Woohoo! A good handheld with about 20 good, original games that are out or are coming out in exchange for a handheld with 4 good ports. What a deal!

Hmm. Considering only one of those games are ports, you should be mighty proud of yourself.
GTA:LCS is only on PSP
SSX On Tour is the only port
Burnout Legends is on PSP and DS (horribly gfx)
Katamari Demacy for PSP is not a port
And those are the games I am getting first. I did not say those were all the games I am looking forward to.
Besides. The DS isn't a good handheld in my opinion. FFS most of the DS games still have GBA graphics, what's up with that?

Not a port, perhaps. The same game that they've already done hiding behinds a different storyline, definitely. I shouldn't have said that, though. If you wanna get a PSP, it's your money, not mine. =)

I would prefer something that will let me play PSP games on a TV without getting a PSP, like Nintendo's Game Boy Player and Super Game Boy. As it is, there are a few games I want for the PSP, but I don't want it enough to shell out $250 just to play them, and certainly not on the small screen considering most of the games released for PSP so far aren't as portable friendly as the games released for the DS--PSP games tend to seem more like they were meant for a console system (and of course many of them actually WERE made for a console 9_9).
Posted: Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM (Unverified) said
Wtf. How are the games on the PSP not "portable friendly"? All of the games I have played / seen have been nothing but great.
Posted: Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM (Unverified) said
Especially because you flick a switch and it pauses it indefinatly till you flick it to turn it back on. So there's no reason you cant start and stop playing at any given second. Truely portable.
Okay, you may not want to use this to replace your PS2, XBox, DVD player or whatever, but it would be nice to plug this in a watch movies (or game) in hotel rooms.

Yea, those pics of the 4:3 and 16:9 are incorrect. The picture that was labeled 4:3 is for Widescreen display. You can tell because the image is squashed. As for the image labeled 16:9 thats for a standard TV, it adds the letterbox black lines to the image. I hope this makes sense and best regards. I just want your information to be correct.
