Here is one more web comic for the day. VG Cats – adorable characters who feel most at home with violence, language, and sexual innuendo – have run an exposé on the next-generation consoles. Each console has its moment of mockery – from Xbox 360's over-customizability to Sony and Nintendo's choice of controllers (and their possible other functions, pictured). Very funny and poignant.

Using a company's product doesn't prevent one from relentlessly and unfairly bashing it and its fans, apparently. Makes sense, of course, nobody wants to go "hey I hate this and that but I haven't actually played it."

of course, then you and your clones would kill themselves for the amazing profit vgcats MUST make, that would not be funny..

It's not very kind to speak about someone having only glossed over a few things they've created. If you'd ripped the time out of your busy schedule of staring at a wall drooling you'd know that Scotty-boy quite often talks about his love/hate affair with Nintendo. So stop being slack-jawed jerks.
Heck, even looking at that ONE comic you'd see that he mocked all three coming consoles. Granted he went a little light on the PS3 (There's really not that much there to mock.), but he still added it in.
It was for a laugh, people. Stop taking everything you see to heart.

But, seriously, folks...
I'll admit, Scott's seemingly blunt and harsh judgement offended me, because I don't think it's right to judge the PS3 OR the Revolution so much until we actually see them in their final forms. Nonetheless, I go to VG Cats for a laugh, and I laughed, indeed.
I mean, did anyone ever point out that Miyamoto had just about NOTHING to do with Crystal Chronicles? Seriously.
Cyborg isn't 40, either (reference to 153), and I'm a huge Titan fan. So yea, I was offended in a way, but it was still hilarious.
"Yes, I realize the hypocrisy!" ~ 153
Like someone said earlier, I think Scott is just being comical, d00ds. And damnit, even when I disagree, it's still funny. :P
As for the next-gen wave, we can't really judge anything at this point except for the 360, since we actually know what we're getting. Too bad that the 360 has, like, NO appeal, so it seems...

and slot of the opinions i get through his comics pretty mcuh match my own on what i think of stuff.
Even more so with the DS vs PSP comic.

But back to the point at hand... I enjoyed his review of the new consoles. While I didn't know about the CD-I before I read his comic, it made the media's comments about the controller even more retarded. "Revolutionary new controller!" "New design a marvel of the gaming industry." "I have pants!"
I love how the media latches onto anything it can and sensationalizes it beyond levels of stupidity never before achieved.
Oh, and I don't like the new controller for the Nintendo. Yes, it's my opinion. No, I don't care if you agree.

This particular comic does a great job of pointing out that none of the next gen systems are as perfect as their corresponding companies would have you believe. Sure it is over the top in its criticism, but that is comedy for ya. It's not that I won't buy an Xbox 360 because I think I will have to pay for the bling model.

DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!!!
Anyway, Yeah, the controller is totally ****able. I'd bonk that.

I would not call that nintendo hate.

nk I doubt Scott's a hatebot, why would he make a joke out of a old nintendo game punch out.

it's all about fun right?
i have fun at VG cats and I've bought some of his stuff.
No worries

The only thing stopping me from completely getting behind him here is the fact that his comics for the past half a year or so have been far from their usual quality. Seriously, look at some of the stuff he had a few dozen strips ago. Classic. Recently though, the site seems to have deteriorated to pointless jokes about booze and rape. I know you don't owe us anything Scott, but make with the quality!
Oh yeah, and if Miyamoto cared about money in the slightest, he wouldn't be giving us off-the-wall concepts like the DS and the Revolution. He'd be soullessly milking out consels like the Xbox and playstation.

Seriously, Scott is amazing. His satire is well done and his characters are funny. Besides, he's a fellow gamer and that's what counts.

Oh and the thing with Cyborg on Teen Titans: he is 40 in the DC Comics universe. He wasn't originally a part of the Teen Titans. Nerd info vomit.

I play on a PS2 and bitch about it when I fail at a mission on a game. Big frikken deal. In fact, I think Scott's making fun of the game systems brings them more bussiness cause seeing that Rumble pack for that new system just makes me want to see what one really plays like.
And I think that rummble pack does look dirty.
Dirty Dirty Dirty Kitty. XD
I also happen to be a fan of Scott's work and someday hope to have a comic half as funny. So I guess I'm bias.

Ps: I <3 you Scott, let's make sweet passionate love and father man-babies together.

Nintendo's new controller sure doesn't guarentee a slam-dunk, but it does make gamers think twice before dismissing the Revolution as a second-rate system. Nintendo doesn't have the 3rd party support to spit out another run-of-the-mill console and depend on Square-Enix to keep up sales. So they offer a different take on the consoles to draw in curiosity and hopefully brew games that can only be produced for the Revolution.
Mr. Ransoomir cleverly points this out by showing that attachments will be where the real sales come from. Want to play Super Smash Brothers? Gotta buy the SSB controller! But don't worry, it'll come bundled with the game for an additional $30 dollars. Now whether or not there will be games that relate to the "sex toy" concept of the controller is beyond me. Bet it would sell though...

It's a comic, Scott's trying to make us laugh for the mostpart, and in the comic business sometimes you decide to or have to use a dirty joke or degrade something you know is good in order to make it seem funny! It does not neccisarily mean that the comic reflects his opinion.

No seriously people, when I was 3 playing NES and 7 playing PS1 I didn't take offense to anything.
You're all retards and the internet has drained your humour.

I'll also go on to say that I own a CDi. Don't ask me where I got it, my dad worked on it. I've played the Zelda games, which, to a young child, aren't actually so bad.
I suppose that from a certain point, Nintendo's Revolution controller appears retarded. It doesn't have many conventional aspects, and how the hell are you supposed to play SSB? But from my point of view, I feel that it's actually a pretty cool concept. Sure, Nintendo may try to scrounge up a few extra million with required accessories, but it looks like it'll deliver a pretty cool experiance. I'd love to play a shooting game holding my controller like a gun.
Also, has anyone seen the picture of the top thing open? It looks like there are ports that you could plug GameCube controllers into.

For example, I've ripped on pretty much everyone I can think of in my comics... including me, my favorite games, and my favorite movies.
On a side note, Nintendo is definitely going ... off the beaten path. Both the DS and the Revolution have serious resemblences to sex toys... which I'm sure is pure coincidence. Or not. I mean, Japan _is_ weird.

The new consoles... eh. I don't think that any of them will "be the best". All 3 will have their strengths and weaknesses, like the Rev will be killer with Time Crisis but not so good with games like Smash Bros or Zelda. On the other hand, PS3 won't have out a nice variety of games, like usual, and the 360 will be the general whore trying to get the most companies to make new content so people will buy it.
Oh, and PSP sucks. So do all you bastards who downloaded Advent Children. If you really are a Square fan, then you would never even think of "previewing" the movie. Burn in hell.

back on track...
They all have their weaknesses, so it is fun to mock them.
They all have their strengths, so I will own them all.
No reason not to point out the flaws of something you like regardless of those flaws.

This said, I don't know if I should post this, just bringing again the same point, but I will.
Why? Obviously, because I can.
Videogames are videogames. Opinions are opinions. Even if they weren't in a satiric mood, opinions are free. And this isn't even serious, it's a (very good) webcomic. We're discussing a joke like if it was something important to the development of whole civilizations. No, it isn't. It's just hilarity. You know, that thing you feel when you get all laughy-moody. Just laugh, donate and let it go. I'm all for XBox, and I can even burst in tears of laugh with Ye Olde Comments about its controller ridiculous size or Microsoft's satanic rites and hails. You haven't signed a contract for any of the major companies (or so I think), so you're not legally bounded to defend them to death.
Mature. Laugh. Use your abstraction, your frontal lobe. I don't know if you've thought of it, but it's what makes you human.
