Eidos has announced that its upcoming action
title, 25 to Life, will not be released next month. The company is considering "changes [to the game] in the
best interest of the business," and will delay its release until next year—no date was specified. 25 to Life
was already delayed once during the
Hot Coffee fiasco.
This latest decision is certainly linked to the growing public outrage against violent games (specifically, games that promote 'cop-killing'). Indeed, the family of a slain officer recently pledged to protest 25 to Life. And so, what once was considered a sure-bet formula for publishers is turning into a nightmare marked by escalating media frenzy. Has the industry reached a limit that society at-large is not prepared to go beyond?
