1up.com has posted a video of the 30 second Nintendo Gameboy micro TV spot which aired yesterday. The video features
a girl walking in time with a mellow soundtrack, who then discovers a Gameboy micro in a very minimalist shop window.
Naturally the design of the Gameboy very conveniently matches her outfit. Then a guy comes up with (yes, you've guessed
it) an army camouflage t-shirt which the Gameboy micro reacts to by changing its skin to the same design.
It wouldn't be suprising if gamers are a little confused over the lack of substance in the TV spot. Where are the
specs? Why isn't Nintendo demonstrating how small the device is? What is the point of having a commercial where the
product is only on screen for 3.56% of the time?! But really this video fits in perfectly with
Nintendo's renewed attempt to appeal to the mainstream
gamer. Form over function? You bet.
