So-called child-rearing experts can't agree. Parents can't agree. Psychologists can't
agree. In short, nobody agrees whether games are an essential part of computer and cultural literacy in the 21st
century or whether they're unmitigated evil in digital format.
The Mercury News examines both sides of the issue, closing with a quote from a parent who claims that he gives his 12-year-old daughter all sorts of freedom to enjoy media and entertainment. "Short of violence and sex and some language, she can watch anything she wants."
Don't deprive your kids of media. We all know how well that strategy worked for Carrie and the Lisbon sisters.
