With the DS announcement, you'd think it'd be headed to GameCube. Seeing is how I don't own a DS or a GameCube, I suppose I'll be purchasing a DS and a Revolution next year.

Supposedly this is supposed to be a lot more pure, not some bullshit like Legend of Mana on PS1.

Maybe the new sequel will be coming to the Revolution? Silly, I know, but while Sony is likely to keep getting Final Fantasy on console, Crystal Chronicles(which played mroe like a Mana game than a Final Fantasy) and Sword of Mana both appeared on Nintendo consoles, perhaps the Mana series will stay with Nintendo now?

I bought a DS as a goof when the only good game was mario. I kind of thought it was a dead in the water system, but its really suprised me.

Good games like this in the future, and some good stuff right now has me playing it more than any other system out now.

Secret of Mana tried to improve menu interaction by doing a circular menu overlaid onto the playfield. If all they do on the DS is use the touchscreen to make the menus even easier I'll be happy. I won't need fancy touchscreen controls to enjoy this game.

Why not release the other game on the Revolution? Sounds to me like a perfect fit with all the weapon types from Secret of Mana (never played any of the others) but how cool would it be to not only swing the sword in 3d, but also use an ax, throw a spear, or flick a whip at enemies?

Do these have any relation to the "world of mana" game that was announced a while back?

I've always been a huge Mana fan. Ever since I rented 'Secret of Mana' for the SNES, and then bought it.

I'll never forget the night I rented it, because I was switching the TV between playing the game and watching the OJ Simpson Bronco chase. Ahhh... Gotta love the '90s...

There is no game titled "World of Mana". World of Mana is the umbrella name for the collection of Mana content that will be forthcoming, including Children and Legend 4. This is similar to the "Compilation of Final Fantasy VII" title they used to encompass all of their recent FF7 content.

I'm a little confused about the name "Legend of Mana 4." Was Legend of Mana (U.S.) not the same game as Seiken Densetsu 4 (Japan)??

As I know it, the games are as such ...

Seiken Densetsu / Final Fantasy Adventure
Seiken Densetsu 2 / Secret of Mana
Seiken Densetsu 3 (unreleased in U.S.)
Seiken Densetsu 4 / Legend of Mana

How does "Legend of Mana 4" make sense? I am very confused.

I believe it's supposed to be Seiken Densetsu 4(SECRET of Mana 4), as Legend of Mana was a seperate game, not of the Seiken Densetsu line, but the same world... If that makes sense to you.

Well, Seiken Densetsu means "legendary saints" in Japanese, so a "SECRET of Mana" 4 doesn't really make any sense, since Secret of Mana was Seiken Densetsu 2.

There was never a Legend of Mana 2 or 3, so why suddenly jump to 4? I'm guessing that this new game is Seiken Densetsu 4, and Legend of Mana was a Gaiden (side story) or something in Japan, instead of SD4. I was pretty sure Legend was SD4, though.

Either way, I'm a huge fan of the series, and hoping that niether of these new titles are anywhere near as awful as the trash that Sword of Mana (GBA) was. That game was a total disgrace to the series, and really gave Square Enix a bad name in my opinion. It could've been so much better.

Okay... I mean in non-crazy world, I thought it was obvious what I meant since you went to repeat it RIGHT afterwards. It's the fourth entry in what is refered to as the SECRET OF MANA series in the US. Fucking otaku are annoying elitests. Why do you have to be so difficult?

...exactly what I just said and you refuted.

"Seiken Densetsu: Legend of Mana" is the japanese title according to GameFaqs info. So yes, Legend of Mana was a sidestory like I mentioned... Or a "gaiden", whatever you wanna call it. Fans I'm sure dubbed it SD4, but that wasn't the jap release title.

Did you honestly think it'd be Seiken Densetsu 4, despite SE just announcing SD4? Like they kind of just forgot about their other game?

Dude, chill out!! Christ, people will jump at any opportunity to start cursing and getting pissed off when they don't have to see the person face to face. No wonder I scarcely post in places like this :P

Anyway, I guess I'm just saying that I'm annoyed with the American naming scheme overall. And, even if Legend of Mana was a side story, "Legend of Mana 4" still makes no freaking sense. If that made sense, then Legend of Mana should've been titled Secret of Mana 2 in the U.S., and this new one could be Secret of Mana 3.

You get where I'm coming from? It should have a whole new name in the U.S., and the Japanese name could maybe sort of pass as Legend of Mana 2, but never 4.

"Otaku are fucking annoying eliteists."
Who said anything about anime???? And I think the real question is, why do YOU have to be so difficult? You're obviously just trying to start a fight, and it's totally unnecessary.

And I don't really know what you're trying to say here: "Did you honestly think it'd be Seiken Densetsu 4, despite SE just announcing SD4? Like they kind of just forgot about their other game?"

So, you're saying that they wouldn't call it Seiken Densetsu 4, because Children of Mana is coming out? Or because of Legend of Mana? And if it's because of Legend of Mana, well, we're right back to the "it should be Legend of Mana 2" argument...

All of this is pointless anyway :P

Did you see the screen shot for that Mario basketball game? The graphics look incredible! DS was getting so many quick and dirty GBA-style 2D games that I was starting to wonder if the DS was even capable of pulling off games like this. I'm getting one!

I'm so happy that mana is returning! I just hope they will remember what made Secret of Mana so great. Sword of mana was'nt nearly as great as Seiken Densetsu 2 & 3. Anyway, I hope the new games will make it to Europe, but I really don't understand why Squaresoft didn't release SD3 in the states and europe back then, Secret of Mana was praised!
Still, what I've learned from Children of mana is good. Kouchi Ishii made mana before, so he should be the man. Masato Kato of the Crono fame will most definately secure the plot, and with Nao Ikeda for the artwork, this simply must become something totally awesome! So much mana love for us!
