Japanese publication, Famitsu, recently scored the scoop on
Real Time Worlds' Xbox 360 project, Riot Act. Real Time Worlds (RTW), the studio founded by former Grand
Theft Auto and Lemmings developers, has already announced All Points Bulletin for the Xbox 360 (and PC), and now
we've received information about a second Xbox 360 title that the studio has in development. IGN describes Riot
Act as a "futuristic, next generation, Online Grand Theft Auto."
The game is set in a massive open-ended city that's dominated by three criminal organizations: Asian, Russian, and
Spanish—wow, that's original. You play the role of super-human "agent" (Judge Dredd?) assigned to hunt down the leaders
of these organizations and restore peace to the city. Your character is customizable and will evolve based on gameplay
actions—rumor has it you'll eventually be strong enough to pick up (and throw!) cars. Sorta sounds like this is gonna
be a GTA - Merceneries - Hulk: Ultimate Destruction next-gen mashup. Let's hope RTW can
implement some unique gameplay to keep things fresh—not just big and pretty.
Riot Act will also include several online modes. Players can take on the criminal underground with a friend in co-op mode. There's also a "multi-play" mode that's still under wraps. We'll keep you posted.
