Dengeki PlayStation reports that "Nippon-Ichi Software is
developing a sequel to its hit strategy role-playing game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness." It's set for a Japanese
release sometime next year.
If you're familiar with strategy RPGs, the original Disgaea was like a breath of fresh air for the genre: it
was able to poke fun at itself, yet offer a virtually endless series of challenges and customizations. (Anyone here
conquer Earth?) The first Disgaea was also more humorous than Phantom Brave and Makai
Kingdom, the games released after it.
The sequel, currently called Makai Senki Disgaea 2, will feature new main characters in a world "turned to
devils," but characters from the original will supposedly be featured in supporting roles.

Makai Kingdom was much funnier than Disgaea.

A true sequel to Disgaea would be great. I tried Phantom Brave, La Pucelle and Makai Kingdom, and none of them lived up to it. One of the three best games ever, IMHO.
I can't be the only one who retried the zombie boss until he had a rare Horse Weiner, stole it and leveled it to 100, can I?
I'm not surprised that they would be including Laharl and crew. Nippon Ichi loves having characters from its games as super-hard optional bosses and/or super-powerful bonus characters.

And the Cave of Trials, and the Alternate Netherworld. Laharl alone deals up to 120,000 damage per turn.
