Itagaki talks 360, screens, hard drives, 5.1, "Dolls," & more

Itagaki is a RIOT. He is about the only developer out there that is so freaking cool. He speaks his mind and is himself at all times. Like him or not, you must love his attitude. He is arrogant and not conceited, there is a difference. Go Itagaki!! If I ever go to Japan, I would love to hang out with this guy.

Itajaki is a loser and so is any 1 who considers him cool is a loser as well. the only game good he created was Ninja Gaiden, and the DOA series was garbage. just look at DOA4 for xbox360 ...it just looks like a lil polished version of DOA3. And what tha hells up with the long hair and glasses...what...this guy thinks he's a videogame character or sumthing. Watch tekken shit all over the whack ass DOA series. Proves my point, I did not mention console or games, you did. I said the man speaks his mind and he does. To be in Japan and speak against your speacial SONY takes guts. He is a man of conviction. Jonas, I'm guessing if you didn't have tendinitis in your hand you wouldn't be so angry. I mean, I don't like the GTA series at all but I appreciate the fact that it is a popular and well received series. By that token I would not consider the people who play that game nor the creator of that game a loser. As someone who has played DOA3 on his own HDTV and watched DOA4 at E3 on a HDTV I can tell you there is a huge difference in graphics quality and not just a polish as you suggested. Then you dig on his looks. Let's see your picture before you start throwing stones in your glass house. Haven't you ever heard of self-promotion? Then you bring up the wannabe-Virtua-Fighter Tekken as the superior game which says enough right there.

I have never met the guy therefor I can't have a valid opinion of if this guy is cool or not.

However I believe the Xbox360 is an overhyped, overpriced mini-pc. They are doing better in the market for the xbox360 compared to the original xbox though all they are doing is spreading the occasional lie, rumor, and paid fandom to convince people to buy it. Hell, they probobly gave gamestop 1 xbox360 to pre-order and when that person did pre-order it went out of stock. lol

Although I don't judge a console by its graphical power (the xbox had the best quality where it was the worst console to get for this generation infact it went bankrupt) and PS2 was possibly the most played console and it had the worst graphics of all 3. Personally I'm more of a nintendo fan but the PS3 is super sweet!

The graphics of the x360 compared to the Ps3 is uncomparable. Because the PS3 is god all because of their luck with cell technology (look at metal gear 4: limp snake lol)

Again, some people believe that xbox360 will be THE console to have but unfortuantely they don't have a good lineup or that high of third party publishers signed up. Plus anybody who isn't into gaming will first want to look on the graphic difference which is obviously a mistake but the PS3 would be ideal unless they go with the revolution which would be probable as a first time buyer.

If your ready to spend $399 for a console that is essencially going to fail as it seems so innevetiable (sp?) then buy all means go for it! Otherwise I strongly suggest you wait for the PS3 and Revolution and they are the "true nextgen consoles".

Google Nazi - overpriced mini PC? A PC of those specs would cost at least twice as much. And why is it a PC? Because it has a CPU, graphics chipset, sound chipset? Hello - that's essentially any game console since the NES. The gamestop comment is beyond rediculous so I'll leave that one alone. Then we have the "xbox went bankrupt" comment - it's called building market awareness. The xbox did not go bankrupt. Microsoft essentially spent 4 billion to get into the gaming market and if the 360 succeeds, then it was a good investment. PS2 was *possibly* the most played? It was *by far* the most played. I'm looking forward to the PS3 too, but how can you say it's "super-sweet" when we haven't even seen any in-game footage at all yet? The graphics are uncomparable? I think they're very comparable. I would say it's a similar difference as the xbox and PS2 were - and you already mentioned which one was probably most played. And how did they get "lucky" to get the cell chip? What does that even mean? They spent the division into the red to get it. How is that luck? 9 core chip vs 3 core chip wont make that much of a difference graphically - thats where the grpahics chipset comes in. Itakagi is an idiot. He doesn't say "what he thinks", not like anybody cares anyway. He's simply paid for by Xbox Team. If anything he should be ashamed of biting the hands that fed him, Japanese companies like Nintendo (where Ninja Gaiden was born) or Sony, the dominant game platform maker in Japan.

The DOA series are a piece of shit compared to any fighting game. Even Tekken beats it, when the latest Tekkens have sucked. I mean, he is an idiot for not even launching that game on a PlayStation 2, given that he would have gotten more sales and wouldn't have needed a bribe from Microsoft, and would have kept his dignity as a Japanese, and loyalty to the Japanese nation (at least the income would be inside Japan since Sony would have had more revenues). What a Traitor.

Anyway, other traitors are:

Akira Toriyama, the guy that made Dragonball. It was a good series, but there are so many ways it could have been better. And now he's making design for Blue Dragon, that 360 exclusive? I hope it flops, only because he is a traitor, and nobody likes traitors.

There's also Hironobu Sakaguchi, the worst of all. Man, he's the worst traitor ever. He was being fed by Nintendo and then by Sony. Arguably there was treason on all sides of that affair: Sony failed to deliver a fast CD-drive, while Nintendo simply called the project off. Square decided to take side with Sony despite being fed constantly by Nintendo... but on the other hand, Nintendo refused to use cheaper media like CDs.... whatever, even if Sakaguchi does not own square, he could have made something. But the worst thing is, he is so passive, that he comfortably decided to retire after earning a huge load of money, just to be watching movies all the time, as he said, and THEN offered a bribe by Microsoft to develop for them; and accepted. That's like the biggest treason ever. I mean, disregarding whatever happened between Nintendo, Sony and square, going with Microsoft is betraying all three at the same time, and his country.

If these guys thought that money is more important than honor (which is priceless), they should have chosen Sony or Nintendo. Xbox is a failure in Japan, and the games they are making are the more of the like of Japanese, which will push 360's sales... but they would get more sales with the PS3 over there, and overall.

While we're at it, Japanese people should stop watching foreign movies, listening to foreign music, eating foreign food and wearing foreign clothes. They should watch Zatoichi all day, listen to Ayumi, eat sushi and rice, and wear kimonos around the house while waiting for earthquakes.

Honestly, for the games that he has created he doesn't deserve half the attention he gets. I mean, honestly, there are tons of game developers that have significantly better & more innovative games than this man has created and who get far less a voice in the industry. Only reason people listen to this dork is because he is the few Japanese developers that have shown devotion to the Xbox, and the Xbox fanboys love that. Other than that he is just a flashy attention-whore (Kinda like the Howard Stern of the gaming industry).

Wow, this thread got real ugly real fast. =( I just thought it would be fun to put a spotlight on one of Japan's more (er, most?) vocal proponent of Microsoft's home consoles. Seriously, what he had to say in that extended 1UP feature is pretty interesting, and a number of Western game journalists seem to have a lot of fun hanging out with the guy. Do we really have to rip into him that much over his stated opinions (or other readers for admiring him)? I mean, he can be an arrogant guy, all right, but it can take leaders like him to inject real vision (however far-out or unsatisfactory to others) into a game.

Disclaimer: I used to not think much of the Dead or Alive series until I finally pulled it out in a party tag-battle series with friends. Pretty fun stuff, even with typical non-gamers (especially 'cause I got the game for just $5). That puts Itagaki in a special place in my book anyday. (Hope you don't mind!) Any way to continue this thread w/o talk of fanboys and groupies? I think that would contribute to a more objective and intelligent dialogue. Just my two cents, though.
