The last month has been a very turbulent time for Myst creators Cyan, what with them firing everyone and then promptly hiring everyone again. Apparently these firings and hirings are having a positive effect on the company. In an interview with Music4Games, Tim Larkin, Cyan's Audio Director, mentioned that the Cyan team is back at work and will be "going in a bit of a new direction".
That's good news, since Cyan has pretty much stuck to one formula (point and click puzzle games) in its past. Albeit, it does the point and click game like no-one else, it'd still be interesting to see how the Cyan studio would handle a different game genre. Or, you never know, an entirely new genre of their own creation.
The interview also covers how Tim worked on creating the music for Myst V, the lastest and final episode of the Myst series.
[Thanks, Music4Games]
