Tackling Ikaruga's 2-player mode--alone!
There are moments in all gamers' lives when we are humbled beyond words. Watch this video and you'll know what we
mean. And yes, the date suggests that this video has been around since April, but we're sure not all of you
have seen it yet. Trust us, this dude makes Treasure's ridiculously difficult shooter, Ikaruga, look like a
walk through the park—albeit a well-choreographed walk through the park.

That is totally crazy. I can barely keep up with what is going on just watching it. Amazing!

Excuse my New Yorkese, but holy fuck. That's fantastic.
funkyflea @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
...woah.

Holy mother of God!
I am officially gay now, unless that was a female gamer, in which case I am officially spent.
Jahizus Babagonoush @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
k, at first i'm thinking 'impressive, but not anything special' then i realise IT'S ALL ONE PERSON PLAYING WITH BOTH HANDS.
yay @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
If you have played Ikaruga, you can truly appreciate this video, and I must say wow!
This might quite possibly be the most insane gaming video I have ever seen.
This even tops Daigo's Street Fighter 3 parry/ comeback win in Evolution 2004.
Willie @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
That was a freaken concert of hardcore video gaming!! Shooters are known for their ridiculously hard bullet dodging, but tackling it single-handedly with two controllers at once??
That was a fucken ballet!! Did you see how he handled the first boss, how he masterfully maneuvers both ships to cover each other while still attacking?
That, my friends, was video game poetry in motion.
Ipsum @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Holy freakin' crap, I'm in love. And he's playing it on normal! Normal! I have enough trouble passing that level on easy!
ill trooper @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Meh, his left hand carried the whole match.
I'm kidding! That was very impressive.
Dan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Having spent the last few days struggling with Ikaruga, I am just absolutely amazed at what I just saw. I can't imagine the practice it took to figure that out. I wasn't just that he was covering the ships with each other, or how he knew when to let one ship still while the other blasted away. It was the fact that he was still doing combos amongst all the madness!
Thomas @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Holy shit. That was amazing.
Peter @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I am at work so I can't see this but I'm going to check it out when I get home, from the comments it sounds like a must see.
I really enjoy games like this and I'd love to see titles of this quality on the PC! Coolest one I've seen is Warning Forever, and that probably doesn't compare to this in the slightest. Does anyone else know of good PC releases in this genre?

This person is an artist. Plain and simple, an artist. It goes beyond gamming and into a very, very impressive dance.

I am officially humbled beyond words. This gamer is a GOD. No other way to put it. I am not worthy.
Todd @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Aww man...I hate to be the one to point this out, but this could be very easily faked. How come we never see the person playing, just his hands? Not saying this couldn't be done, but that it would be much easier to fake. Take a video of a perfect 2 player run of a certain level, and then choreograph your movements based off it. They wouldn't have to be exact, just match up really close. You could even film the left hand first and then the right and splice it all together. I'm more apt to say it's all a trick of the camera and the editing software.
Steve @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I am thoroughly impressed by this feat. Ikaruga is already hard enough...
Captain James Skull @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I have a hard enough time playing ONE person in ikaruga.
shawn @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I think I saw this about 6 months ago, but it's still an amazing video. The internet has made this man a legend, and he deserves that legendary status...
Levi @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Ehm, I'm skeptical of the validity of this video. It's just too hardcore. And I swear I see one of the ships fly into walls during the boss. This game is just too damn hard to be able to play as both players almost perfectly and with both hands! It had me going for a minute. But what do I know? I can't even pass the fourth stage. Still, It's a cool video to watch.
Black Galaga @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Okay.
The only thing more lame than practising that much would be faking the video. It's not like faking a Christina Aguilerra VS. Vida Guerra VS. Angelina Jolie threeway...which would have a point...mastubation...it's like faking a video game video...which uhh...is for chumps. Or something. This mofo should learn to DJ...DMC champ in no time!

When the Revolution controller comes out our grandmothers will be able to do this too.

Wow....so awesome...
daftgamer @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
I remember this being on Kamalot's blog (kamalot.blogspot.com) a full TWO weeks before. Talk about old news, still though, it's no less impressive.
I'd be hard pressed to find that it's been faked. how do you choreograph those button mashing? I actually think that would be harder than playing.

Please, If a guy can kick ass with a fishing rod controller in Soul Calibur why not this?
Todd @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
daftgamer your saying that it would be harder to fake this video than to practice what has to be countless hours and spend tons of money to be able to get this good? Can someone be this good?...yes. Would it be easier to fake it though?...yes. If this was an over the shoulder shot of the person playing or a home camera video I'd have to give him the props. However for this video to be made several things have to happen. There has to be a top mounted camera to get a clear shot of the persons hands. Then someone has to get a simultaneous shot of the game play at the same time. Wouldn't the person playing the game be in the way? You'd have to have a separate video output hooked up to a recording device. Not unheard of, but not too common. Then who is this person? Why make a video showing off this skill and not attach your name to it? Wouldn't you like everyone to know you had this skill? Plus looking at the video you can't really see if this person is pushing the buttons or not. It just looks like it syncs up really well.
All these things combined have me certain that this is a fake. If this guy is so good, he can do it again and have someone film him from behind shifting between their hands and the screen. Until then I'm calling this one of the better (i.e. fooled more people) fakes out.
Chris @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
Oh my god, i can't belive such a freak of nature existed. I never even dreamed someone would be capable of doing something like that.
Alan @ Dec 18th 2005 10:00PM
For all you skeptics out there, here is the site that brought you that ass creaming video:
http://www.ikaruga.co.uk/downloads/videos_chapters.php?play=dp&mode=arcade&diff=normal
You can download all 5 levels of this guy dual-playing one of the hardest games ever to grace the Dreamcast/Gamecube. Oh, and fuck you Todd.
